BREITLING BIKES
FOR CHARITIES
CHAMPION TRI-ATHLETES JAN FRODENO, CHRIS
MCCORMACK and Daniela Ryf competed together
in the Coronation Double Century bicycle race on a
team that included Breitling CEO Georges Kern, world
champion mountain biker Nino Schurter, Ironman
champion Ronnie Schildknecht and Italian road cyclist
Vincenzo Nibali. All rode in support of Qhubeka, a
South African charity that provides bicycles to people
in communities with limited transportation options.
Qhubeka’s programs include learn-to-earn programs
for schoolchildren and work-to-earn programs for
adults. The funds raised through this partnership
will allow Qhubeka to distribute 500 bicycles to
communities that are in desperate need of them.
ALPINA TEAMS WITH
NATIONAL PARKS
ALPINA HAS TEAMED UP WITH THE NATIONAL PARK
FOUNDATION, the official nonprofit partner of the National
Park Service. In accordance with Alpina Watches’ focus on
outdoor adventure, a portion of Alpina’s commitment will
support NPF’s efforts to protect and enhance America’s rivers
and trails in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the National
Trails and National Wild & Scenic Rivers systems. The Swiss
watch brand and the National Park Service will work together
to build awareness of the recreational opportunities that parks,
rivers and trails have to offer, furthering their shared goal to
encourage people to get outside, explore nature and find time
for adventure.
F.P. JOURNE AUCTION RAISES
FUNDS FOR MONACO FOUNDATION
F.P.JOURNE CREATED A UNIQUE PIECE OF THE Chronographe Monopoussoir Rattrapante
that the company then donated to raise funds for the environmental charity Prince Albert II
of Monaco Foundation. The watch was sold for SG400,000, or about $546,000, during the
Singapore Charity Ball auction late in 2018. This Chronographe Monopoussoir Rattrapante
features a one-of-a-kind execution of a blue dial with oracle bone script numerals
depicting the passing of time. Francois-Paul Journe re-imagined the numerals on the
chronograph counters and the hour-and-minute chapter rings.
