CHRONOSWISS RAYMOND WEIL
Just like the firm’s Flying Regulator Open Gear, the new 41mm
Flying Regulator Night and Day is also a completely in-house
development. Note the unusual day/night dome at the 9 o’clock
position. It is embedded within a half-dome and made of titanium.
The watch has a 3-day date display at the 3 o’clock position while
at 6 o’clock you’ll see the seconds wheel. The day/night display
and date are easy to set using the crown. The Flying Regulator
Night and Day is available in four designs in steel or red gold –
one of which is a limited special edition of fifty. Raymond Weil skeletonizes its Caliber RW1212, a collaboration with
Sellita that was seen initially in 2017. With a perlage finish, the open-
work 42mm Freelancer RW1212 Skeleton exposes its balance wheel at
6 o’clock once again, but opens much more of the dial to expose
most of the caliber below. Three different executions will be made.
Prices start at $2,350.

ZENITH
DEFY ZERO-G
Zenith has updated its patented “Gravity Control” gyroscopic
module, which cancels the effects of gravity on the running rate of
the watch by maintaining the regulating organ and the balance
wheel in a horizontal position. The module – inspired by historical
marine chronometers – previously spun between two convex
sapphire crystals, now occupies only 30% of its initial volume and
can now fit between the two flat sapphire crystals of the standard
Defy case. In additional, Zenith has built it into the high oscillation-
frequency El Primero movement measuring tenths of a second. The
manual-winding El Primero 8812S calibre, oscillating at 5 Hz, is made
with 324 components (including 139 for the gyroscopic carriage
alone) to drive the offset hours and minutes, small seconds, power
reserve indicator and gravity control functions. Made in 44mm rose
gold or brushed titanium. Prices start at $99,800.
ANGELUS
The U50 Diver Tourbillon is this
brand’s first dive model–and
there’s very little ordinary
about it. $32,995.
