CHOPARD
GRAND PRIX DE MONACO HISTORIQUE RACE EDITION
Continuing its partnership first begun in 2002, Chopard once again presents two new
limited edition timepieces that embody the sport of gentlemen’s racing. Issued in two
limited series, one of 250 in titanium and steel ($7,390) and the other of 100 in rose
gold, titanium and steel ($11,200), they embody Chopard co-president Karl Friederich
Scheufele’s dual passions for racing as well as high watchmaking standards.
The commemorative edition comes in two versions: one in bead blasted titanium
combined with steel; and the other in rose gold with titanium and steel, respectively
issued in 250- and 100-piece limited editions. Pushers shaped like engine pistons and a
blue bezel with a tachymeter scale combine to calculate average race times and speeds
per distance travelled. The 44.5 mm-diameter case is fitted with a screw-lock crown
and the caseback is stamped with the Automobile Club de Monaco logo.
Water-resistant to 100 meters, it houses a high-precision watch ‘engine’, an auto-
matic winding mechanical chronometer-certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer
Testing institute (COSC).
BRM
GRAND SPORT
In a sea of brands creating, re-creating, and evolving who and what they are,
BRM continues on to track time on tracks - this time with an American icon;
the ultra-rare, ultra-light 1962/63 Corvette Grand Sport racing machine.
At 46mm, both the three-hand and chronograph models are a bold 46mm
in girth and machined from a solid block of aluminum - the same substrate
as the light weight tube frame of the original Grand Sport.
The strap is crafted in Alcantara to mimic the feel of the wheel on the
Grand Sport. Replacing the numeral 12 at the top of the dial you’ll find the
number 2 instead. This highlights the significance of Grand Sport 002 and
the car’s prominence among second-generation Corvettes. Other signature
features include textured dials in “paillete blue” with white stripes, as well as
logo engraving on the dial and crown.
Unlike so many other brands that may dabble in driving, or may even have
an iconic type tied to motorsports, BRM lives for speed, breathes exhaust
fumes, and captures the world of speed within the space of the wrist on
every watch it makes.
Only 163 timepieces will be available for each series. Prices: $5,700 for the
three-hand and $9,750 for the chronograph.
