McCathorine : First Black Female Warden / Golden Soror / Life Member
Fredericksburg , VA – Soror Gwynne Harris McCathorine became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on June 20 , 2020 . Soror McCathorine was a golden soror and a life member . She was initiated into the Gamma Eta Chapter at Knoxville College in 1965 . She began her career in criminal justice in 1968 as a District of Columbia policewoman . She became the first Black female warden in the history of the Federal Prison Services in July 1981 . After retirement in 2002 , she obtained her teaching certificate and taught special education in the Prince William County School System . She was a woman of God and a dedicated member of First Mount Zion Baptist Church for over 33 years . They recognized her as a " Noteworthy Mother " in 2018 . Soror McCathorine was an active member of Psi Psi Omega Chapter and regularly attended chapter meetings . She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters , Valeria Sizer , and her Legacy Soror Francesca Sizer Johnson , and two grandchildren , Ivy Gwynne and Evan Johnson .
McCallop : Retired Educator / Golden Soror / Life Member
Kansas City , MO – Soror Ruth H . Wordlow McCallop became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on March 12 , 2020 , at age 101 . She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Kansas State Teachers College now known as Pittsburg State University in 1941 . After receiving her Master of Science in Education from the University of Southern California in 1956 and settling back home in the Kansas City metro area , she started her teaching career in special education , retiring in 1981 . Soror McCallop was initiated in Beta Omega Chapter in 1947 . She was a member of Swope Parkway United Christian Church , NAACP , Jack and Jill , and Saturday Night 16 Club . Her husband , William J . McCallop Sr . preceded her in death . Those left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law William and Sylvia McCallop , eight grandchildren , ten great-grandchildren , and a host of nieces , nephews , cousins , and friends .
McGlone : Retired Educator / Charter Member / Life Member
Portsmouth , VA – Soror Antonell McGlone became an Ivy Beyond the on Wall July 8 , 2020 . Soror McGlone was initiated into the Theta Nu Chapter at the University of Maryland in April 1977 . She earned a BS degree in health and physical education and a MA in elementary education with a concentration in school counseling . She further advanced her career and earned an educational specialist degree in educational administration from The George Washington University . Soror McGlone was a devoted educator , retiring from the Chesapeake Public School System with over 30 years of service where she served as a school counselor and administrator on both the elementary and middle school grade levels . Soror McGlone was a charter member of Omicron Pi Omega Chapter in Chesapeake , VA where she served as financial secretary and president . As a member of Gamma Delta Omega Chapter , she served as Ivy Leaf ® reporter and participated on numerous committees .
McIntosh : Retired Consultant / Silver Star
McLean : Educator / Diamond Soror
Greenville , SC – Soror Mae Lue McIntosh became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on November 2 , 2020 . She was initiated in the fall of 1995 . Soror McIntosh enjoyed traveling and working in the church . She was a member of the Epsilon Tau Omega Chapter in Greenville , South Carolina , until her passing . Left to cherish her memories are a host of family members , friends , and sorors .
San Francisco , CA - Diamond Soror Vivian Rhea McLean became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on July 26 , 2020 . Soror McLean was initiated at Butler University , in 1940 . She received her 50-year Golden Soror recognition in July 1991 . Soror McLean became a Diamond Soror in 2015 and received her Diamond Soror recognition July 2016 , at the Boule in Atlanta . She was an active member of the sorority for 80 years , Delta Zeta Omega for over 60 years and would have celebrated her 100th birthday this fall . Upon graduation from college in 1942 , she taught in the Indianapolis Public School System until 1948 . Her subsequent marriage and move in June 1948 , brought her to San Francisco . where her teaching career resumed after the birth of her three sons . She was continually active and was a member on many committees . Those left to cherish her memory are her sons and their partners , grandchildren , great grandchildren . and a host of friends .
Middlebrooks : Retired Educator / Diamond Soror / Life Member
Detroit , MI – Diamond Soror Alice Middlebrooks became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . She matriculated to Wilberforce University , and was initiated into Zeta Chapter in 1945 . She married Donald Alexander Webb , to this union two daughters were born , Soror Denise Marshall-Walker , and Kay Dianne Mann . Kay preceded her in death . Later in life she married Edsel Paul Middlebrooks , he preceded her in death . Soror Middlebrooks was an educator in Detroit Public Schools for over 38 years . She served as a member of Oak Grove AME Church , Top Ladies of Distinction , YWCA Board of Directors , and seventy-five years in the sorority , as chairman of many committees and 2nd vice president of Alpha Rho Omega Chapter . She leaves to cherish her memory : her daughter , Soror Denise ; grandchildren , Soror Dawn Marshall , Soror Erica Mann and Lance Mann , and a host of family and friends .
