Tau Alpha Omega Hosts Virtual Arts Panel
Redford , MI – Tau Alpha Omega Chapter hosted a virtual panel discussion addressing the role of the arts in commerce and the barriers , obstacles and fulfillment in pursuing a career in the arts . This interactive discussion was created in alignment with international program Target 3 : Building Your Economic Legacy and Target 4 : The Arts ! and attended by 55 sorors and guests . The panel included four businesswomen / artists who provided the journeys , insights , and effects of a tumultuous 2020 on their businesses . The panelists included Soror Cheryl Kimbrough - Cheryl Kimbrough Photography ; Konstance Patton - Multimedia Artist ; Soror Toni Smith - Movement of Dance , and Marlynne Kay Willingham - Art in Motion . Panelists began by sharing personal accounts of successes , as well as learning opportunities , in building their businesses in the arts . Panelists also discussed the need to adapt their business models and services to accommodate the unique needs and challenges associated with the pandemic . Participants sought guidance on obtaining and leveraging family and community support in building business and sustaining as an artist and entrepreneur in 2021 and beyond . Xi Epsilon Omega HBCU Scholarship Award
Amherst , NY – Xi Epsilon Omega Chapter awarded its first " HBCU For Life " scholarship of $ 1,500 to Janiya Croxie , a 2020 graduate of Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts High School in Buffalo , NY . Janiya attends North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro , NC . She is majoring in mass communication / multimedia journalism and is looking forward to her HBCU experience . The members of the Holiday Luncheon Committee with the approval of the Chapter Basileus Shelly Sherman donated $ 1,000 to The Mayerson Freestore Foodbank . Mr . Kurt Reiber , CEO of Mayerson expressed his gratitude for our commitment to the mission of the Freestore . The donation will provide two hundred ( 200 ) " power packs " for students in the Greater Cincinnati Area . Each " power pack " contains enough food for a family of four for the weekend . Each child in the home receives a power pack . The pack includes breakfast food items , fruit and cheese products , canned meals , snacks , and other nutritious food items .
Alpha Omega Foundation Holds Virtual 5K Run / Walk
Cleveland , OH – Alpha Omega Chapter ’ s Foundation held a virtual 5K Walk / Run Target 2 : health and wellness event with 90 + registrants . Participants registered on-line and received confirmations , t-shirts , and totes by mail . Runners , joggers , and walkers coursed self-selected trails , tracks , treadmills , roads or gyms . Before the end of the day , the finishers texted their stats to managing officials at Hermes Road Racing . The presenting sponsor was University Hospitals .
