Cain Elected Chairman-Elect
Soror Lisa Cain was recently elected as the new chairelect of the Association of American Medical Colleges ( AAMC ) Group on Faculty Affairs . The Group on Faculty Affairs represents faculty affairs leaders from 172 U . S . and Canadians medical schools . She is currently adjunct professor in the Department of Neurobiology and Anatomy McGovern School of Medical and professor in the Department of Diagnostic and Biomedical Sciences , at the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston School of Dentistry ( UTSD ). Soror Cain is the associate dean for Professional Development and Faculty Affairs at UTSD and co-chairman of the Leadership Development Component of the American Dental Education Association of Women in Leadership Special Interest Group . She was recently selected as the University of Mississippi Medical Center ' s Distinguished Alumnus in Research . She is an artist who incorporates her love of art into the academic arena . Caulton-Harris Honored for her Public Service
Soror Helen Caulton-Harris , of Xi Xi Omega Chapter in Springfield , Mass ., received two awards in recognition of her contributions to the city of Springfield . As the Public Health Commissioner for the city , Soror Caulton- Harris was honored during Family Caregiver Month , by Mayor Domenic Sarno for her service as a caregiver and public health official . She also received a BusinessWest Women of Impact award . This honor is bestowed upon women who have the power and authority to move the needle in their businesses , are respected for their accomplishments within their industries and enterprises , and are mentors , advisors , and influencers in their fields . Soror Caulton-Harris stands out for her impact in Springfield as she works to improve the quality of life , especially in health equity , for the community . Mayor Sarno noted that the hard work , leadership , and devotion of Soror Harris were indispensable in moving the city forward during the COVID-19 crisis .
Diamond Soror Clay Celebrates 100th Birthday
Delta Zeta Omega Chapter celebrated Diamond Soror Mary Clay ' s centennial birthday . Soror Clay was initiated on November 22 , 1941 into Alpha Zeta Chapter at Langston University in Oklahoma . In 1946 , she became one of the original charter members of Delta Zeta Omega Chapter in San Francisco , CA . Over the years , she held many offices and served on various committees . She was instrumental in the establishment of the archive committee and foundation . Soror Clay received her Diamond Soror recognition at the 67th Boule held in Atlanta , GA . She is a retired educator , community leader and lifelong learner . Her special interests included water coloring and china painting , sewing , quilting , jewelry making and gardening . She was married to the late Howard Curtis Clay , and has one son , Howard , and a grand-daughter , Soror Gabrielle Clay .
Crawford Achieves Diamond Status
Soror Ethel Jewel Davis Crawford received a BS , cum laude , Texas College ; M . Ed . Texas Southern University ; E . R ., M . R ., L . L . D . East Texas State ( Texas A & M ) University . Soror Crawford was initiated into Alpha Tau Chapter in January 1946 and served as basileus from 1946 - 1948 . She is a Life Member and her leadership led the sorors to combine their assets to financially support college scholarships . A lifetime member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church she has led or supported many ministries of the church . She has membership in local , state , and national civic organizations including but not limited to the NAACP , Democratic Women and Concerned Citizens of Palestine . She retired in 1991 from the Palestine Public School System after 42 years of teaching elementary special education and homebound classes . While working , she was president of the Palestine unit of the Texas Classroom Teachers Organization and in retirement has served two terms as presidents of the Anderson County Retired Teachers Association . A scholarship given to a senior going to college , majoring in a teaching career was started under her administration .

Soror Curtis served in various Jack and Jill leadership roles in the Durham , NC chapter , including president , vicepresident , recording secretary , regional bylaws chair , regional secretary , regional director , and national membership chair . Jack and Jill of America , Inc ., a membership organization of mothers with children ages 2 - 19 , is dedicated to nurturing future African American leaders by strengthening children through leadership development , volunteer service , philanthropic giving , and civic duty . Jack and Jill , Inc . has 252 chapters nationwide , representing over 40,000 families . She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University , and Juris Doctor ( JD ) from Harvard Law School . Soror Curtis was initiated into Mu Upsilon Chapter , at Cornell University , Ithaca , N . Y . Previously , she held membership in Tau Nu Omega Chapter , Bronx , N . Y . and Iota Epsilon Omega Chapter , Bergen County , N . J . She is chief employment counsel for Becton Dickinson , an American multinational medical technology company .
Drayton Inducted into Hall of Fame
Soror Alisa Drayton was inducted into the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston ( BGCB ) Alumni Hall of Fame . Soror Drayton , a second-generation Boston resident , serves on the Yawkey Club ' s Local Advisory Board , is chairman of its Alumni Association and is a member of the BGCB ' s Board of Trustees . She is a lifelong servant dedicated to helping disenfranchised communities and uplifting youth . She also sits on the board of directors for the Boston College Law School Black Alumni Network and is chairman of the National Ways & Means Committee for the Alumni Association at Lincoln University where she obtained her bachelor ' s degree . In 2018 , she was the recipient of the Lincoln University Alumni Service Award and the State Street Corporation 2018 Chairman ' s Award for Exceptional Volunteerism in North America . Soror Drayton is a life member initiated into the Epsilon Nu Chapter in 1988 and she is an active member of Boston ' s Psi Omega Chapter .
