Wright : Retired Medical Writer / Silver Star
Philadelphia , PA – Soror Cynthia Wright became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on October 28 , 2020 . She was initiated into Delta Iota in 1972 where she earned her BS degree from Cheyney University . She received her master ' s degree from Tuskegee University . For years , she was an educator with the School District of Philadelphia but later transitioned into a new career and became a medical writer for GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals . As an accomplished musician , she also wrote several songs in her later years . Soror Wright was an active member of Omega Omega Chapter and served on the HBCU for Life : A Call to Action Committee . She was an active member of Cheyney and Tuskegee Alumni Associations . She was a lifetime member of the NAACP and the Philadelphia Zoo . She received an award from Three Chaplains for her philanthropy . She was a member of Mt . Airy Fellowship Church for over 20 years . Her sister , Joyce Habtemichael ; two brothers Milton Newton and George Wright , Jr ., relatives , and sorors will cherish her memory .
Yearwood : Retired Educator
Queens , NY – Soror Sylvia Johnson Yearwood became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on December 16 , 2020 . Soror Yearwood received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts degrees in elementary education from the City Colleges of New York and earned additional graduate degrees from Columbia and Hofstra Universities . Soror Yearwood was initiated into Lambda Chapter soon after entering college and served as Ivy Leaf ® reporter . Following graduation , she joined tTau Omega and later Epsilon Pi Omega chapters serving on each of their scholarship committees . She trained numerous paraprofessionals in District 27Q , inspired over 50 people to become teachers , and trained individuals in remedial reading programs throughout the district . She became an elementary school assistant principal and retained that position until her retirement in 1988 . Soror Yearwood leaves to cherish her memory her daughter , Sharon Yearwood ; her husband , William Pearson ; son , David Yearwood ; six grandchildren , nieces , nephews , and a host of other relatives , friends , and sorority sisters

Riverside , CA – Soror Mildred Tidwell Wright became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on October 13 , 2020 . She was initiated at South Carolina State University in 1948 in Beta Sigma Chapter . She transferred to Allen University in Columbia , SC and graduated with a BS degree in education . In 1959 Soror Wright earned her Master of Arts degree from Columbia University and chartered the Eta Zeta Omega Chapter . She started her career in education at Manchester High School . The family moved to California in 1962 where she continued her teaching career in the Riverside Unified School District . Soror Wright became active with Eta Nu Omega in 1975 . She leaves to cherish her memory , her husband of 69 years , Dr . C . Wesley Wright ; son Geary , grandsons Derek and Jason , and two legacies , Sorors Joni and Stephanie Wright .
