Celebrating Founders ' Day with Service and MLK Remembrance
Austin , TX – Beta Psi Omega , along with the Beta Kappa , Delta Xi , and Upsilon Alpha Chapters hosted its MLK Day of Service and Joint Founders ' Day Community Service project . This virtual service project raised nearly $ 4,000 to help replenish local food bank shelves . Service to all mankind is more than just a slogan , it ' s about actively serving

The chapter held another Pink Table Talk , titled , ' Not Your Guinea Pig ', a panel discussion focused on dispelling the myths that spread distrust between Black Americans and medical providers regarding the vaccine . While distrust of the vaccine is widespread , it is most noted among African Americans , who also lead the country in COVID-19 fatalities . The history of unethical medical practices and inequities in current medical care provide valid reasons for Black people to take pause when considering the vaccine . Frontline healthcare professionals , Dr . Liz Holliman , Sorors Catherine Ward , Avis Day , Anita Putman , and Carla McGruder provided detailed facts to help the audience make informed decisions about the vaccine for them and their families . The panelists also answered questions about ethical concerns from program participants .

Celebrating 100 Years of Ivy Leaf ® Magazine as after school care , summer programs , and breakfast , lunch , and evening snacks . Snacks are sent home with the children on the weekends . Academic camps , homework assistance , computer education and field trips are embedded in their program which operates year-round . For students who are currently operating in a virtual environment and may not have internet or computer access , computers are also available . Resources about health care and nutrition are available to senior citizens . In addition , the facility offers an anonymous program to support those returning to a productive and positive life without the use of habit-forming drugs . The chapter is grateful for the opportunity to assist such a deserving organization . Soror Porchanee ' White is program chairperson and Soror Paula McNair is Founder ' s Day chairperson .
Tau Rho Omega Hosts Pink Lounge Goes Red
Carrollton , TX – As part of Target 2 : Women ' s Healthcare & Wellness , Tau Rho Omega hosted " Pink Lounge Goes Red " to have a serious and informative , fun conversation about why keeping your heart healthy is a serious matter . With close to 100 participants in the virtual lounge on Zoom and thousands of views on Facebook , Soror Pamela Turner and Soror Patryse Datcher co-hosted the event sharing heart healthy snacks , prevention tips , and various heart disease facts . While eating healthy snacks and showing participants how to make a healthy drink , Soror Turner and Soror Datcher went over the importance of eating right and breaking bad health habits . To get participants active and get their heart rates up , Soror Aaliyah Clinton created and guided a workout using music put together by Soror Jazmine Loftin , also

Alpha Xi Omega Recognizes Women ’ s History Month
Dallas , TX – In recognition of Women ' s History Month , the connection committee hosted a virtual panel discussion focusing on the extraordinary work of Black women in politics entitled " Black Women Empowered : Our Voice Our Vote ." Guest panelist were Congresswomen Eddie Bernice Johnson 30th Congressional District , United States House of Representative and Honorable Amber Givens 282nd Judicial District Court of Dallas . Zoom participants had the opportunity to listen to the prestigious guest panelist speak about their incredible journeys that led them to their life changing careers to fight for justice .
