Kappa Pi Omega Celebrates Women ’ s History Month
Daleville , AL – Kappa Pi Omega Chapter launched a social media blast in March . Sorors shared a women ' s history flyer bordered with photos of sorors dressed in Harlem Renaissance-Cotton Club themed headpieces from their 113th Founders ' Day virtual program . We celebrate Women ' s History Month in honor of those who paved the way , made a way and created a way for generations to come . Their story is our story . From the visionary spirit of Founder Ethel Hedgeman Lyle , paving the way for college educated women , to honorary Delta Sigma Theta member Fannie Lou Hamer and honorary Soror Rosa Parks making a way for our voices to be heard . Their story is our story . Honorary Soror Mae Jemison and Soror and Vice-President of the United States , Kamala Harris created a way for us to soar toward the stars and soft land into a seat at the biggest table in the

Epsilon Gamma Omega Celebrates Heart Health
Huntsville , AL – Soror Janice Toney , lead for Healthy Heart : Pink Goes Red Community Impact Day and her committee planned a week-long series of activities to celebrate healthy eating and exercise . On Monday , February 1st , EGO started with a kick-off skit " Movin & Groovin " on healthy lifestyles by Soror Kimberly Collier and Zumba with Soror Deborah Kelly-Watson . Tuesday , February 2nd was entitled , " Dance Fit " that focused on dancing with Soror Lauren Blue and " How to Read Blood Pressure " with Soror Truelove Sandifer . We continued Thursday , February 4th with " Hear the Heartbeat " with a Zumba Family Night led by Soror Kimberly Collier , Heart Health Tips given by Soror Truelove Sandifer , and more Zumba with Soror Camille Scruggs . We culminated the week on Friday , February 5th with guest speaker , Soror Dr . Patricia Martin , cardiologist and a healthy meat prep with Soror Dr . Angel Dunlap and Soror Lauren Blue . Dr . Martin talked about the importance of healthy eating and getting vaccinated during the COVID-19 pandemic . A question and answer period was allowed where Dr . Martin addressed specific questions from the audience . Dr . Angel Dunlap prepared grilled salmon , green beans and a crisp salad and Soror Lauren Blue prepared a Dijon apple salad . We then presented a $ 1000 dollar check to the American Heart Association . The $ 1000 was combined effort from EGO in the amount of $ 500 ; $ 330 from Blue Creative Designs ; and $ 270 from sorors who donated directly to the American Heart Association . The activities during the week had on average 35-40 people in attendance each night . Pink Goes Red 2021 was very impactful .
Lambda Zeta Omega Holds MLK Unity Day of Prayer Celebration
Lanett , AL – The members of Lambda Zeta Omega Chapter held their Dr . Martin Luther King Unity Day of Prayer virtually on February 18 , 2021 . The theme for the occasion was " In these troubled times we pray for healing as we continue to move forward ." Soror Christy Brock was the mistress of ceremonies . The program featured ministers from LaGrange and West Point , Georgia and Lanett , Birmingham , Montgomery and Opelika , Alabama . Each pastor prayed spirit-filled and encouraging prayers . Several local mayors and city councilmen were a part of the occasion . Mayor Kyle McCoy of Lanett in his declaration from the city reminded us that Dr . King had devoted his life to advancing equality , social justice , and unity . Uplifting spiritual selections were provided by Mr . Jimmy Lewis , Jr . on keyboard and his family . Before COVID-19 , 100 to 200 guests attended the yearly affair . This year ' s program reached over 5,951 viewers via Facebook and 350 by YouTube . Bee-TV aired the program for 8 days with the potential of reaching 600,000 households each day . LZO ' s service initiative , coordinated by Sorors Wanda Huguley and Phyllis Z . Stiggers , presented care packages to the staff of four nursing homes in the Lanett and Lafayette area . Basileus Jackson thanked the staff , first responders and others for their help to mankind and stressed that although MLK Day is a holiday , it is still a day of service . Lambda Zeta Omega looks forward each year to honoring the life and legacy of Dr . M . L . King , Jr .
Delta Theta Omega Hosts Pink Goes Red Forum
Mobile , AL – Delta Theta Omega Chapter rocked their red for heart health with a Zoom Forum for 211 sorors and community participants . The American Heart Association video " Watch Me " set the tone for heart health as a serious matter . Participants completed Adena Health System ' s heart health and risk assessment to get their age as a result of their risk factors for heart attack and stroke . Area physicians were handy in presenting topics on : COVID-19 as the new risk factor for heart failure and heart attacks ; heart disease and African American women ; stress and heart disease . Participants were able to rotate into three breakout rooms for a more interactive environment . One of the sessions included a dance fit activity which included the American
