negotiations began , and the chapter was able to agree upon a lunch menu to be purchased and delivered to feed the first responders at the local firehouse . The committee ensured permission was allowed and upon delivery of the food , the chapter basileus , program chair , and other committee members were on hand to thank the firemen . The first responders were very appreciative and grateful for Omicron Xi Omega providing lunch for their large group and agreed to take a photo with the committee members present . The Montclair Diner has agreed to collaborate in the future as needed .
Pi Theta Omega Celebrates Women ’ s Health
Morristown , NJ – Pi Theta Omega hosted its inaugural virtual Pink Goes Red " From Our Hearts to Yours " event . Soror Donna Lawson and Soror Nikki Sumpter led the program as part of Target 2 : Women ' s Healthcare and Wellness . Sorors partnered with Atlantic Health System and the Morris County ( NJ ) Chapter of the Links , Incorporated in an evening of heart health activities from the comfort of their homes . With sixty-six people in attendance , participants gained information on maintaining heart healthy habits from guest speaker , Susan Mensah of Atlantic Health and engaged in a low impact workout with fitness instructor , Carol Larkin .
Omicron Xi Omega provided first responders at the local firehouse with lunch from the Monclair Diner , a Black owned business .

Nu Xi Omega Hosts Virtual Pink Goes Red Line Dancing Fundraiser
New Brunswick , NJ – Nu Xi Omega Chapter proudly joined the American Heart Association in the fight against heart disease to improve the health of all women . The annual Pink Goes Red Community Impact Day , implemented to promote heart health and raise awareness of stroke and heart disease , was a success . A total amount of $ 1,535.96 was raised with 100 % of the proceeds donated to benefit the American Heart Association . Led by Sharnette Bostic , this enjoyable line dancing workout and fundraising activity helped attendees to better understand factors related to heart disease and stroke . With African Americans having a much higher risk of death , prevention is key . Sorors took off their pink and wore red to show support for the war against heart disease , the # 1 killer of women . Chapter members and their guests gathered virtually with the community via Zoom for a well-attended , fun-filled fundraiser to raise awareness of this deadly disease and to help promote life changes that will increase the longevity and quality of lives for women all around the globe ! Heart health trivia questions were interwoven throughout the evening by Target 2 committee members which allowed community participants to win prizes . The evening concluded with Soror Jerri Haslem providing a mindfulness gratitude segment that enabled participants to de-stress . The event was a tremendous success .
Rho Gamma Omega Promotes Health & Wellness
South Orange , NJ – Members of Rho Gamma Omega Chapter ' s Women ' s Healthcare and Wellness committee hosted a virtual meditation and journaling session in support of its nutrition and wellness component . Attendees performed deep breathing yoga exercises followed by a reflective and empowering writing session . The committee also recognized cervical cancer awareness by creating a social media campaign that provided preventable steps . The Target 2 committee rallied for heart health with its " Why I Wear Red " social media campaign , which encouraged developing healthy eating and regular exercise routines , while acknowledging those affected by heart disease . The following day , their Pink Goes Red fundraiser was held . Chapter members and attendees worked up a good sweat through a high intensity virtual cardio and abdominal fitness class . All proceeds were donated to the American Heart Association , to support research for heart disease and other heart related issues . The Target 2 committee created social media campaigns supporting both colorectal cancer and autism awareness . Lastly , the chapter challenged members and the community to get walking in recognition of National Walking Day where participants were challenged to walk at least 8,000 steps , capture themselves and fitness information in photographs , which were posted on the chapter ' s social media outlets .
