Under the leadership of Supreme Basileus , Soror Glenda Glover , the International Membership Committee has worked to effectively advance strategies that support lifelong active membership . In 2018 , we launched , “ Membership is Pearlfection … You Belong Here ” emphasizing the value of membership in sustaining our sisterhood . Central to this theme of membership , the committee introduced and implemented “ Reactivation Workplace ,” a membership reclamation campaign to reconnect inactive members .
Directed by this vision of excellence , Reactivation Workplace reached over 30,000 inactive members to achieve the highest number of members ever in the history of our sorority ! In 2021 , Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority , Inc . ® has more than 107,000 active members . This milestone was achieved with the support of our graduate chapters .
We translated the rich and vast network of sorors into an Online Membership Directory , which made it easier to connect with one another through an extensive online sorority database . Partnering with the International Program Committee , we expanded this initiative to include a Membership Business Directory and affirm our support of our Soror business owners and entrepreneurs . We have also received your positive feedback on the Online Transfer Verification Process and our revisions to the mentoring guidebook , “ The Process of Lifelong Sisterhood .” Both resources are critical to our members .
Collaborating with the DPGS Committee to honor our sisterhood as a lifelong process , the Membership Committee introduced a new recognition category , affectionately known as “ Pearl Membership ,” which celebrates sorors attaining 65 years of membership ! Lifelong active membership is a journey and we believe in celebrating our members throughout their journey .
We know that there is always more work to be done ! The importance of reclaiming , reactivating , and retaining our members is necessary now more than ever . Let us all do our part to stay connected , stay engaged , and stay active in our beloved sisterhood .
