Oklahoma State University , home of Theta Beta Chapter , renames campus buildings in honor of Ivy Beyond the Wall , Soror Nancy Randolph Davis .
Chapter , and Courtney Williams of Theta Beta Chapter . Soror Davis earned her bachelor ' s from Langston University in 1948 and a master ' s in home economics from OSU in 1952 after becoming its first African American student in 1949 . She taught home economics in Oklahoma City high schools until her retirement more than 40 years later . Soror Davis was initiated into Alpha Zeta Chapter in 1948 and received many honors and awards from her chapter , Beta Sigma Omega , and the Midwestern Region , including Most Outstanding Graduate Soror , 1999 . Soror Davis had been a 67-year Life Member and a Golden .
Lambda Gamma Hosts Round Table
Newark , DE – In partnership with the Xi Omicron Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity , Incorporated , Lambda Gamma Chapter hosted " The Round Table : An Athlete ' s POV " to conduct an open and honest discussion centered on the Black athlete ' s experience at HBCUs versus PWIs . The panel consisted of athletes from prestigious institutions along the East Coast , including Delaware State University and Temple University . Division I and II athletes provided personal testimonies and well-informed arguments to questions ranging from team dynamics to current recruiting methods . All who attended the event developed a new awareness of the written benefits of being an athlete at an HBCU and the unspoken challenges of life at a PWI .
Soror Sigourney " Ziggy " Perez
Perez Crowned Homecoming Queen
Shreveport , LA – Soror Sigourney " Ziggy " Perez , of Tau Epsilon Chapter , was crowned Louisiana State University Shreveport ( LSUS ) 2020- 2021 Homecoming Queen . She is a freshman majoring in computer science and formally served in the US Army National Guard . Soror Perez ' s organizations and awards include President of the Black Studies Association , Secretary of the Student Veterans Organization , English Club , Student Activities Board , BETA Club Honor Society , National Defense Service Medal , State of Texas Adjutant General ' s Individual Award , National Honor Society , and the Chancellor ' s List with a 4.0 GPA . Her favorite motto encapsulates her belief that " for us to progress as a society , we have to stop conforming , stop apologizing , and strive to break down barriers and learn to be comfortable in being our true selves !" Soror Perez founded three student organizations : LGBTQ21A , LatinX , and Student Parents on Campus ( SPOC ). Her hobbies are crafting , painting , and running . Her life goal is to give back to the communities that embraced her family through service , charity , and volunteering .
