Stafford Named President
After a nationwide search , Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare named Soror Ocpivia Stafford , PharmD , MBA , president of Methodist South Hospital . Methodist South Hospital is a 156-bed hospital located in Memphis , Tennessee . Soror Stafford joined Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare in 2006 , serving as a staff pharmacist before assuming pharmacy leadership roles at Methodist University Hospital and Methodist Olive Branch Hospital in Olive Branch , Mississippi . She later became Methodist South ' s pharmacy director and , in 2018 , advanced to vice president of support and professional services for the hospital . Soror Stafford served as interim president prior to her appointment this year . Additionally , Soror Stafford was recently recognized as one of Memphis Business Journal ' s Super Women in Business . She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Dillard University , a Doctorate in Pharmacy from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University ( FAMU ), and an executive master ' s in business administration from the University of Memphis . She is currently a candidate for a fellowship in the American College of Healthcare Executives . As a fall 1996 initiate of the Beta Upsilon Chapter at Dillard University , Soror Stafford is a Silver Soror . Additionally , she is an active member of Omicron Alpha Omega in Holly Springs , MS .
Thompson Wins Award
Soror Geraldine Thompson of Delta Omicron Omega Chapter , Florida House of Representatives District 44 , is the inaugural recipient of the League of Women Voters " Warrior for Democracy " Award . She was nominated by Judge Bob P . LeBlanc of the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida . Named after a book by Ann Patton about Orange County ' s League of Women Voters , the " Warrior for Democracy " Award was bestowed upon Soror Thompson " for her courage and decisive action to defend our democracy and the rule of law . The League of Women Voters praised Soror Thompson for standing up to the governor , the Judicial Nominating Commission , and members of her own caucus when Governor Ron DeSantis attempted to appoint a justice to the Florida Supreme Court who did not meet a specific job qualification as required by law . Soror Thompson filed suit , and the Florida Supreme Court ruled in her favor . Soror Thompson did not allow politics to stand in the way of what was right for Floridians , and she is a true " Warrior for Democracy ."
Tolefree Named VP
Soror Tysha K . Tolefree , DBA of Delta Upsilon Omega Chapter of Seattle , Washington , was recently hired as South Puget Sound Community College ' s finance and operations vice president . Reporting directly to the college president as V . P . of finance and operations , Soror Tolefree will provide strategic leadership planning and direct management of the administrative and business functions , including physical plant operations ; capital planning and projects ; safety , security , and emergency management ; enterprise services ; budget and reporting ; financial services , and risk management . Soror Tolefree was also elected to the Washington State Employee Credit Union Supervisory Committee in January 2021 . She is charged with ensuring credit union practices safeguard member assets in this role . She holds a Doctor of Business Administration from Walden University and an MBA from Troy ( State ) University . As a veteran of the U . S . Air Force , Soror Tolefree still practices the three core values that have sustained her for all of her professional life - integrity first , service before self , and excellence in all that we do .
Trapp Hall of Fame Inductee
Soror Randa Trapp , a San Jose State University graduate , earned her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center . In 2003 , she was appointed to the San Diego Superior Court . She worked as Supervising Judge of the Civil Division . She has served as president of the Earl B . Gilliam Bar Association , regional director of California Women Lawyers , treasurer of the National Association of Women Judges , and the NBA Judicial Council chair . She currently serves on the Lawyers Club Advisory Board and the Association of Business Trial Lawyers Board of Governors . She has received many awards , including the City of San Diego " Randa Trapp Day ," 79th Assembly District " Woman of the Year ," " Bernard S . Jefferson Judge of the Year Award ," " Sankofa " Award , " Unsung Hero Award ," " Belva Lockwood Award " " Excellence Award ," San Diego County Women ' s Hall of Fame 2021 Inductee , Girl Scout ' s " Cool Woman ," and the Outstanding Jurist Award . Soror Trapp is a Silver Star member and parliamentarian of Epsilon XI Chapter in San Diego , CA .
Turner Named Senior Director
Soror Glenda H . Turner , a leader in consumer marketing and advertising , has joined the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation , a nationally accredited Virginia State Agency that operates Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown , as senior director of marketing and public relations . In February , Soror Turner began her new post at the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation , overseeing sales and promotions , advertising , and media relations to raise national and international awareness of the two history museums and generate paid admissions . She currently serves on the Williamsburg Health Foundation Board of Trustees and as chair of the external affairs committee , as a board member for the Institute for Dance , and past board chair of the Avalon Center . She also received the 2017 J . Blaine Blayton Community Service Award presented by the York-James City-Williamsburg Chapter of the NAACP . Soror Turner was initiated in 1990 into Alpha Phi Chapter at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University and is the current pecunious grammateus of Lambda Lambda Omega Chapter .
Turner Receives Award
Soror Maiya Turner of Epsilon Theta Omega Chapter in Port Arthur , Texas , was awarded the Outstanding Initiate Award at the 89th South Central Regional Conference . Soror Turner is a fall 2019 initiate that serves on multiple committees such as chairperson for Target 1 : HBCU for Life , Target 4 : The Arts !, technology , and communications . Moreover , she serves on the South Central Region graphic design team , creating social media graphics and conference booklets . Soror Turner is currently pursuing her Ph . D . in curriculum and instruction , emphasizing multicultural education at Texas A & M University . She serves as the professional development chair of the Department of Teaching , Learning , and Culture Graduate Student Association . As a graduate student and research assistant , Soror Turner was selected to present at the 44th Annual Southwest Educational Research Association Conference , " A Piece of Their World : Developing Cultural Competence in New Educators ." In addition , she exudes academic success while continuously serving mankind with her philanthropic work in Two Rose Support Group .
