Hill Butler Promoted to Director
Soror Deirdre Hill Butler of Delta Mu Omega was promoted to Leader on Advocacy / Diversity at Union College in Albany , NY . Throughout her time at Union , Soror Hill Butler has contributed to the school ' s operations and her students ' lives . On top of teaching numerous classes on subjects ranging from sociological imagination to political sociology , she is a co-founder of the Union Coalition for Inclusiveness and Diversity , which has provided support and visibility for faculty for more than 20 years . She is also a member of numerous other advocacy groups and became an inaugural member of Union ' s diversity team as director of Diversity , Equity , and Inclusion and academic chief diversity officer . During her time at Cornell , Hill Butler worked on a case study examining Black community life in New England . Her current work follows suit , shining a light on Black women , specifically Black stepmothers . The 10-year project , which she ' s worked on periodically around other projects , is forthcoming in the form of a book via SUNY Press , " Beyond Mammies and Matriarchs : Visibility of Black Stepmothers ."
Kelley Promoted to Chief of Staff
Eta Gamma Omega Chapter congratulates Soror Velessata Kelley , who was recently promoted to chief of staff to the California Department of Transportation ( Caltrans ) director . AKA life member and Silver Star Soror Kelley has served 31 years in various departments within California ' s government . She joined the Caltrans team in 2013 as the chief for the office of outdoor advertising . She led department efforts to negotiate settlements for highway projects impacting outdoor advertising displays and successfully prosecuted industry violations in this capacity . In her new position as chief of staff to the director , Soror Kelley is a member of the executive staff responsible for advising the director / chief deputy on issues and policy matters of critical concern to Caltrans . In addition , she provides direction in the development of policies for Caltrans and manages the daily activities of the director ' s office , and participates in the development of major policies . She is also a Lifetime Alumni of California State University , Sacramento , with a master ' s degree in business administration and a bachelor ' s degree in government journalism .
Lambert Appointed by Mayor
Soror Mary Lambert , a member of Pi Omega Chapter in Chattanooga , TN , was appointed director of community health by the city ' s newly elected Mayor Tim Kelly . She is a retired 0-6 from the U . S . Army and U . S . Public Health Service Commissioned Corps . She has served in multiple capacities in our country , including the White House , the Food and Drug Administration ( FDA ), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ( CDC ), and assistant secretary of health . Additionally , she was deployed in the wake of the September 11th attacks and in response to the national capitol anthrax exposure event . She currently teaches in the doctor of nursing science program at Vanderbilt University and plays an integral role on Chattanooga ' s COVID-19 response team . Soror Lambert is the exemplar of service to all mankind and continues her long-standing work addressing public health .
Larkins-Pettigrew Appointed First Chief Officer
Soror Margaret Larkins-Pettigrew , M . D ., a nationally recognized leader in diversity and global health , was appointed the first chief clinical diversity and inclusion officer for Allegheny Health Network ( AHN ) in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania . She served as professor of obstetrics and gynecology , chairman of clinical diversity and inclusion , and assistant dean of students at Case Western University . In her new capacity , she will work with leaders to shape an inclusive workplace culture at the health system , further advancing its commitment to workforce diversity , cultural competency , and equitable health care for all patients and communities served . Her experiences as a nurse , a distinguished professor , a Naval officer , a global health strategist , and an obstetrician-gynecologist specializing in global health issues bring a unique perspective to the important role she will play at AHN and in the greater Western Pennsylvania region . In addition , she holds numerous national and international professional appointments . Soror Larkin-Pettigrew is an active member of Alpha Alpha Omega Chapter , initiated in the fall of 2007 .
Littlejohn Named Co-Founder
Soror Ernestine Littlejohn , administrative law judge , began her judicial career in August 1982 when she was appointed administrative law judge for the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board . She presided over appeals from the California Employment Development Department regarding whether a claimant is qualified and eligible for unemployment insurance and state disability benefits . She was and continues to be guided by Chapter 6 , verse 8 of Micah , which tells of God ' s requirement to act justly , love mercy , and walk humbly with Him . In 1976 , Soror Ernestine and her husband , retired Superior Court Judge Joe Littlejohn , were among the founding members of the Association of Black Attorneys of San Diego , later renamed the Earl B . Gilliam Bar Association . EBGBA supports and advocates for black attorneys and addresses legal issues affecting the underserved community . Soror Littlejohn , fondly known as " Tina ," enjoys family time and dancing . Soror Littlejohn was initiated in Beta Mu in1959 and is a Golden Life member of Epsilon Xi Omega .
Lundi Appointed Assistant Commissioner
Soror Elizabeth Lundi has been appointed assistant commissioner for the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity at the New York City Department of Correction . In this role , Soror Lundi will provide leadership in developing , implementing , and evaluating the Department of Corrections equal opportunity programs and compliance operations . She will also ensure equal opportunity for the department ' s 11,000 employees by creating and enforcing employment practices that support a non-discriminatory workplace . Soror Lundi is a St . John ' s University graduate in Queens , NY . She was initiated into the Nu Mu Chapter in 2008 and is a current member and former grammateus of the Epsilon Pi Omega Chapter also in Queens , NY . Soror Lundi earned a Juris Doctor from Rutgers School of Law and is admitted to the bar in New York and New Jersey .
