Coleman Elected School Board Member
In Bloomington , Ill ., Soror Kentrica Coleman of Omicron Delta Omega Chapter was elected to the McLean County District 5 School Board . As a school board member , she is responsible for influencing , supporting , and implementing policies for the governance and management of District 5 schools . Soror Coleman believes every student can succeed and reach their individual fullest potential . She is passionate about investing in their future and is an avid champion for removing roadblocks for all students . In addition , she has expressed her commitment to engagement , equity , and educational excellence for students , educators , and the community . She has four children who attended District 5 schools . She has an extensive record of volunteerism in the district , including District 5 ' s Citizens Advisory Council , PTO president , PTO treasurer , and several booster clubs . She is also a technology manager at State Farm Insurance . Soror Coleman was initiated into the Eta Theta Chapter at Loyola University New Orleans . Since joining Omicron Delta Omega Chapter , she has held multiple leadership positions , including basileus , anti basileus , tamiouchos , and epistoleus .
Davis Elected School Board of Trustees
Soror Rosiland Davis made history by being on the 2020 National U . S . Presidential ballot for her local school board , in which she is a 1990 graduate . She became the first woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority , Inc .® to be elected Liberty-Eylau School Board of Trustees and in the Texarkana area . Soror Davis has 15 years of special education experience , a life coach , a public speaker , and an advocate . She has a B . A . in psychology from the University of North Texas , an M . A . in human resources development from Webster University , and early childhood and special education teacher certification from Texas A & M University in Texarkana . She enjoys volunteering , talking to her elderly friends in the community , and working as a youth sponsor at her Friendship Missionary Baptist Church . Her story is a testimony to others to never give up , stay the course no matter how long , and most importantly , stay true to yourself by always doing what ' s right even if you are alone on the journey . God will never leave you nor forsake you .
Down-Taylor Appointed Senior Advisor
Newport News , VA – Senator Mark Warner has appointed Soror Cynthia Downs-Taylor to serve as his senior advisor . She will be joining a " leadership team steering [ Senator ] Warner ' s operations ." Soror Downs- Taylor is a consultant and community organizer from Hampton Roads who worked on the re-election campaign of Senator Warner in 2014 and 2020 . She also worked on the campaigns of Rep . Robert " Bobby " Scott , Senator Tim Kaine , and Governor Ralph Northam . In addition , Soror Downs-Taylor is the former NAACP Virginia State Director for the National Voter Fund . Edwards Named School Board Chair
Soror Ruby Edwards , who dedicated her service to the students of Orangeburg County for 28 years as an elementary school guidance counselor , retired in 2018 but has continued her passionate advocacy and support of children in a new capacity as chairperson of the district ' s board of trustees . Soror Edwards joined our organization as a first-generation Ivy while pursuing her undergraduate degree in counselor education from South Carolina State University . Later , she earned a master ' s degree concentrating in K-12 guidance from S . C . State and became a life member of AKA . She joined Orangeburg ' s school board in 2018 , a critical time in the history of the area

In addition to this , in her leadership on Orangeburg ' s School Board , Soror Edwards is also a contributing member of New Mt . Zion Church , a faithful volunteer for Harvest Hope Food Bank , and a counselor offering support to middle school students through her church ' s ministry Project Care .
Ellis Promoted to Sergeant Major
Yazoo City native Soror Angela Ellis , the immediate past basileus of Omega Beta Omega Chapter in Yazoo City , Mississippi , was promoted to Sergeant Major ( SGM / E9 ). She is the first female promoted to SGM within the 210th Finance Battalion in Jackson , MS , serving as the senior enlisted-finance management advisor . She will be the first female and African American woman to serve as command sergeant major ( CSM ) in Mississippi . Soror Ellis is a 2002 initiate of Epsilon Pi Chapter of Mississippi Valley State University and a charter member of Omega Beta- Omega . She served as president from 2017-2019 and won President of the Year at the 88th South Eastern Regional Conference . During her tenure as president , her chapter has won 11 -awards . She currently serves as the membership chairman . She has a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and a master ' s in management . Soror Ellis has 23 years of service in the Mississippi Army National Guard .

Psi Omega Soror Pamela D . Everhart , senior vice president , head of regional public affairs and community relations , Fidelity Investments Nine Greater Boston Leaders Awarded 2021 Pinnacle Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Business and Management . The Pinnacle Award for Lifetime Achievement is awarded annually to an honoree who has demonstrated an exemplary career of outstanding leadership within her organization and industry and has also worked to advance women in the workplace . This year ' s Lifetime Achievement Honoree is Soror Everhart , senior vice president , head of regional public affairs & community relations at Fidelity Investments . In addition to her contributions to Fidelity , she is an integral member and voice within the broader statewide business community . For example , she co-founded the New Commonwealth Racial Equity and Social Justice Fund to fight systemic racism and create equity . In addition , Soror Everhart serves as the co-chair of the Chamber ' s Public Policy & Government Relations Leadership Council , and she is a member of the Chamber ' s Economic Opportunity Committee .
Fennick Launches Program
Soror Michelle Fennick of Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter serves as education preparation program director at Houston Baptist University . She works as a consultant and serves as CEO of " We Wear Crowns " by Dr . Michelle . In addition , she shares her expertise with others by teaching workshops , public speaking events , and serving on a range of educational committees and boards . Dr . Fennick began her career as an educator over 25 years ago . She has worked at both elementary and secondary levels as a teacher and an athletic coach , district trainer , assistant principal , campus principal , and central office administrator . She has authored and co-authored numerous educational articles and has received multiple awards . Dr . Fennick earned her B . S . from the University of Houston , received her master ' s degree and Ph . D . in educational administration from Prairie View A & M .
