It'z Your Day 2018 Issue #8 | Page 87

out of town, we really wanted to showcase the best of Collingwood by ensuring that their stay was enjoyable. We wanted our wedding to be a big party and less of a formality.
Curtis took care of most of the logistical planning for us; booking buses, getting our marriage license and wedding rings. He also built a beautiful arbour for our ceremony, which was amazing! I was responsible for all the other details, but he was always willing to help when I was stuck on a decision. The bonus of planning a wedding in 4.5 months is that you don’ t really get to mull over your decisions for very long, so it forces you to keep moving forward.
I was so excited the day before our wedding. The day became even more fun as our wedding party arrived and we attended our rehearsal dinner in The Village at Blue Mountain. On the day of the wedding I felt a little anxious until I saw Curtis during our first look. After that moment, everything became a party. Following our wedding day, I felt
sad that our big day was over! You look forward to that day your whole life and it is amazing how fast it goes.
The biggest stress of the day was the weather. All I wanted was to get married outside on a sunny day. It drizzled a little the morning of our wedding, which was heartbreaking for me. My photographer was a huge calming force, reassuring me that the clouds were great for pictures and that the rain would end in time for our ceremony. Fortunately, the rain held off for the ceremony and just before we said“ I do”, the clouds broke and the sun came out.
My favourite part of the day was our first look at the top of Blue Mountain. It was an emotional moment and something that I’ ll always remember. Aside from that moment, our reception was my favourite. There is nothing better than having all your favourite people in the same room together. •
