Chair’s Report
CHAIRS REPORT
A Word from the Chairman
Dear Members,
As our very busy year unfolds I am reminded once more of
the absolutely central role of the people who volunteer their
time and efforts on behalf of the Forum. These efforts give
our organisation its most productive attributes and lend it an
authenticity that is remarkable for its focus on members
wishes.
I am reminded of this often and in many ways: the recent
resignation of Phillip Palmer, a Board member who is heading
back to the US for work is one of the most recent. The
departure, from the Queensland Chair, of Peter Marshal is
another very notable example given his amazing work in that
state over many years. But there are countless others who
are working for the collective good not just of the
organisation but also for the profession of Service
Management.
I would like, as we head into the final weeks before our
National Conference, to say Thanks to every one of them.
Conference – we are back in Melbourne with a stellar
line-up of speakers.
I think the last several years have witnessed a dramatic
change in the quality of presenter we have at our
Conference. Part of this is that we have reached out
further to ensure the quality of the ‘Key-Note’ presenters
which is fantastic – it will be again this year – but it is also
reflected in the quality of the local presentations from
among our own fraternity.
The Conference next month is our 20th, itself a remarkable
achievement, and I’m sure it will be viewed subsequently
as one of the best in the world this year. Our Conference
Committee, headed up by Victorian Board Member Aprill
Allen, has ensured our signature event demonstrates our
vital role in what is a very exciting future.
I look forward to meeting as many members as I can at the
conference!
