FROM

the itSMF Chair

Dear Members,

As the holiday season approaches, and another year draws to an eventful conclusion we find ourselves reflecting on our successes over the past year and the relationships that have made our success possible.

One thing I would like to remark on was the considerable success of our National Conference, held in my adopted hometown of Adelaide for the very first time this year.  From the moment I arrived at the welcome drinks at the National Wine Centre I felt the buzz and the excitement for what would be a great couple of days of learning, networking, and celebrating our industry.

This is a living, breathing testament to our continued relevance in a very difficult environment and economy, and we are hoping to build on the success of the Adelaide conference in Melbourne next year.  The Gala Dinner I’m sure will be an event not to miss, being held at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).  Look out for our call for speaker and award nominations in January!! I would like to thank every committee member across all the state branches for your outstanding contributions this year, and I look forward to working with you all to put forward our calendar of events for 2024.

I would also like to offer thanks to the staff in the National Office.  We run a very tight ship and are able to do so because of their dedication and professionalism.  Thank you, Sheryl, Alison, Michelle, Yvonne, and Alan.  On behalf of myself, the board and our members please know that

your efforts do not go unnoticed, and we are extremely grateful for everything you do.

I also have the pleasure of working with a terrific board this year, their stewardship of itSMF Australia has put us in a sound position and represent what a well-managed NFP member association should look like.  Well done and thank you for all your support.

I would like to give a special call-out to my Deputy Chair, Janet Holling.  Janet you are an absolute gem, and I am extremely lucky to have your support, guidance and your “we just need to get it done” pragmatism.  You also organize a mean conference!  Thank you!

Finally, I would like to wish you all a wonderful holiday season with your families and loved ones, filled with warmth and good cheer.

Thank you once again for being part of this wonderful community of professionals, may the coming year be filled with prosperity, growth, connection, and new opportunities.  On behalf of myself and the board, we look forward to serving you in the year ahead.

Stay safe and see you all in August at the Melbourne conference, if not before.

Enjoy the magazine.
