Chair’s Report CHAIRS REPORT A Word from the Chairman Dear Members Our 20 th National Conference was a fantastic event full of learning, fun and community. We demonstrated once again that the true value of our community is the connections that we make. Our Conference Director, Aprill Allen, spearheaded an initiative that saw five ITSM related startups offered a small stand on ‘Startup Lane’. We have never done anything like this before and five startups took up this offer. The delegates and start-ups alike are very positive about the outcomes. To quote one this ‘is really going to help with some of our messaging and the audiences we will experiment with targeting… thank you for all you support!’ Truly an exciting development in our Conference format and one you will see again next year. We delivered 42 speakers selected from our community with the vast majority of these chosen from our submission process. We then invited an additional five who were requested to address hot topics and gaps in the program as well all chair the Generation panel. I am absolutely delighted to report that the feedback on the speakers who came via the submission system told us that overall the calibre of presenters was fantastic. Many attendees raved that it was the best line-up of speakers they had seen. What your Board wants most from our Conference is for the event to enhance our reputation in the Service Management community. The general feedback from everyone, speakers, reviewers and attendees has been that that the program was well balanced and the majority of attendees that filled out the survey rated the depth and breadth of the program to be 7.8 or higher. One person said ‘my batteries are recharged, ready to take on the real world again. A great couple of days with the itSMF family!’. It is this sense of being a community that I particularly value; this is the unique contribution your organisation makes to our professional world. It is one that our National Conference continues to build upon. Enjoy the magazine.
