brid has been completely redesigned to increase structural stability and absorb the extremely high dynamic forces associated with cycle times below two seconds. The opening, closing, ejection and plasticising movements are driven by direct-drive motors coupled with planetary roller screws. This advanced engineering solution enables the machine to operate at peak performance for many years without maintenance or replacement of the drive systems. The direct-drive concept, with no belts or gearboxes, ensures higher positioning accuracy while reducing the number of mechanical components, resulting in a simpler, more reliable system with lower maintenance requirements.
THE MOULD AND CELL AUTOMATION The Swiss-made mould is, as always, the heart of any high-performance packaging application, determining both productivity and product quality. Meticulous attention to detail and the highest standards of craftsmanship, backed by Otto Hofstetter AG‘ s extensive expertise in packaging moulds and supported by state-of-the-art,

world-class machining centers, make this mould a true example of the principle: invest more today, save more tomorrow. The mould is completed by a Husky hot runner system, a benchmark technology that requires no introduction. Automation system plays an increasingly important role in modern production facilities, and this cell will undoubtedly attract visitors‘ attention by demonstrating several key packaging technologies: precise wrap-around label positioning, 100 % vision inspection with individual part rejection, and fully automated packing of finished containers directly into cartons. The target cycle time is 3.6 seconds, and we can assure you that running completely unattended at this pace is no simple task— not only at the exhibition, but also in day-to-d ay production at SAF‘ s manufacturing facilities. This is achieved thanks to meticulously maintained production departments, exceptional cleanliness throughout the plant, continuously monitored climate control, and fully automated conveying systems for both raw material and finished products. The machine‘ s CNC control is fully integrated |
with the robot control system. Operators can not only recall the mould program, but also use the machine‘ s 24.5“ touchscreen to program every robot sequence and function. This level of integration extends beyond the robot to all auxiliary equipment within the production cell, including the dosing unit and the material feeding system. Packaging moulding may sometimes appear straightforward, but achieving the highest standards is another matter. Delivering superior product quality, reducing wall thickness, and maintaining complete process control at extremely high productivity levels— all while meeting the growing demand for easy and sustainable recycling— requires advanced technology, expertise, and uncompromising attention to detail. We would like to thank all the partners who contributed to making this outstanding thinwall packaging project a reality. In particular, we extend our appreciation to SAF Bianco Srl, a leading manufacturer and processor of plastic materials based in Schio( Vicenza), Italy, and the owner of this production system. |
