MATERIALS AND APPLICATIONS
RadiciGroup can rely on a broad portfolio of engineering polymers approved for contact with drinking water that offer valuable solutions for the replacement of traditional brass or other metal alloy systems .
The use of polymers in water distribution systems is motivated by the need to minimise the level of lead in drinking water and reduce production costs

Today , the correct management of water has become a fundamental issue for the building industry . In fact , there is a growing demand for safe and efficient systems aimed to avoid the waste of water typical of the past . In order to be adopted systematically , the new systems must be able to ensure long-term performance , optimum water quality and low production costs . The polymers suitable for use in the building industry are certified and approved in accordance with the most recent and stringent regulations and are designed to provide resistance and safety over a long period of time . Let ’ s now examine their applications in detail .
WATER DISTRIBUTION The distribution segment includes all systems that bring water into buildings and measure water flow , as well as submersible pumps and shut-off valves . In these areas , the replacement of metals with engineering polymers is mainly motivated by the necessity to minimise the level of lead in drinking water and , secondly , to reduce production costs . The various components must guarantee dimensional stability as well as high mechanical and thermal resistance in the long term . The presence of disinfectants can cause oxidative degradation in the polymers , altering their performance during use . Accelerated tensile strength retention tests - performed over 3,000 hours at 60 ° C in the presence of a 5ppm solution of monochloramine ( NH2Cl ) - show that the Radilon A , Radilon DT and Radilon Aestus T1 polymers can meet the strict requirements typical of applications in this segment .
SANITARY SYSTEMS Sanitary systems cover all applications that are in contact with water in the kitchen or the bathroom , for both domestic and commercial users . Typical cases are taps , valves , shower heads . In these systems , long-term dimensional stability , mechanical strength and resistance to disinfectants and to high temperatures are required .
