of the fair , namely the conversion of recyclates into new products , a project on which the company has been working hard in recent times , in response to the strong demand for thin-walled components such as , for example , those for floricultural applications .

The company ’ s R & D department is responsible for designing presses and components that can adequately withstand the aggressiveness of post-industrial and post-consumer materials that , otherwise , if not properly managed by the injection unit , would corrode the plasticizing unit in a very short time , thus forcing their replacement . On the occasion of Greenplast , BMB demonstrated a method for processing a resin from natural sources co-injected with a new component in polyvinyl alcohol ( PVOH ), a synthetic polymer made up of macromolecules soluble in water , capable of providing an adequate barrier to oxygen . The goal , in this case , was the moulding of coffee capsules with a thin wall of 0.35 millimeters , including the PVOH barrier , essential to ensure the quality of coffee for over 12 months ; in order to obtain a perfect and homogeneous surface both on the internal and external parts , BMB adopted the coinjection process , perfectly controlling the gate valves of the hot manifold . During the disposal phase , then , the three walls will separate and the bacteria will be able to attack the capsule , making the composting process much easier and faster . This co-injection technique , demonstrated on a full-electric BMB injection moulding machine at the specific pressure of 2,000 bar , an injection speed of 350 mmm / sec and with a sophisticated hot manifold control , attracted the interest of visitors , who visited the company stand and submitted numerous requests for quotations . |
