On reaching the alarm threshold defined according to the technical standards and Zambello ’ s experience , an alarm is triggered that informs the user of what is happening . Before the onset of abnormal noise and / or temperature increases , vibration control is what makes it possible to understand well in advance if something is going wrong in the gearbox kinematics and to undertake the necessary actions .” Thanks to the ZMS system it is therefore possible to carry out predictive maintenance .
CHARACTERISTICS AND OPERATION The overall dimensions of the ZMS system are minimal . The three vibration sensors that are normally used and the lubricating oil sensor are connected to a central unit by means of shielded cables .

The compact control panel is provided with a display where the vibration values and the conditions of the lubricating oil ( temperature , relative humidity and presence of metal particles ) can be viewed . The system can support up to 6 vibration sensors , allowing the user to monitor the electric drive of the gearbox almost at no cost . An output cable is connected both to a warning light ( i . e . a flashing siren ), and possibly to the extruder ’ s PLC , a feature often requested by the manufacturers of plants . If just a single parameter exceeds the threshold for more than an hour - in order not to generate false alarms - the alarm signal is triggered . We can therefore confirm that the ZMS system guarantees exhaustive control of the gearbox kinematics . A STRATEGIC COMPONENT Basically , ZMS is an evolution of what had until now constituted the manufacturing history of the Zambello Group , a history based on a consolidated mechanical technology , known to be absolutely reliable . To call this system an optional feature , albeit a very valuable one , is quite simply no longer enough . Alessandro Zambello concludes : “ Let ’ s say that our control system , at the heart of the machine , is the ideal complement to a modern gearbox , and is nowadays a must for everyone . If the market supports us , as I believe it will , we will be able to start serial production of the system , with all the advantages that this implies . We are also developing solutions for blown and / or cast multilayer film systems , which use between three and nine extruders . Our aim is to develop a single system that can monitor up to nine gearboxes at the same time . Our customers are already realising that the ZMS is the key solution for the future , also with a view to Industry 4.0 . The more quickly we can spread this message the better it will be for everyone , considering that machine downtimes become more and more expensive as production volumes increase . After the official unveiling of the system at K 2022 , we will be promoting it at another fair , Plast in Milan , where visitors will be able to watch a simulation of the system in operation .
