A DENSIFIER FOR PLASTIC RECYCLING
The new Liontek densifier was unveiled by Tecnova at the K 2022 fair in Düsseldorf .
During the K 2022 fair in Düsseldorf , the world ’ s major exhibition dedicated to the plastics industry , Tecnova celebrated the official launch of the new Liontek densifier . Liontek is a closed-loop densifier designed for the in-line ( not batch ) processing of post-consumer , postindustrial plastic waste , and of plastic from washing systems . This project , initiated by Antonio Massaro , the current president of Tecnova , goes back to 1997 . The original drawings are still circulating in the company , but the project was abandoned over time owing to other production priorities , until Tecnova ’ s engineering
The Liontek densifier by Tecnova department recovered it as the basis for developing the new densifier . The densifier plays an essential role in the processing of post-consumer and post-industrial plastic waste , especially as today it is increasingly difficult to find materials with a residual moisture content below 5-10 %, therefore suitable for direct feeding into extruders . The role of Liontek is then fundamental to cut the moisture levels that often reduce the quality of pellets , of the process and therefore of the final output In addition to completing the lineup currently available on the market under the Tecnova brand , the Liontek densifier is destined for national and international recyclers and converters who already own a Tecnova extrusion line , or a system of another manufacturer , since Liontek is totally compatible and can also be combined with other systems available on market . Its valuable features include versatility of use , control of productivity and of the moisture content thanks to specific software , as well as ease of installation and operation . “ The exhibition in Germany offered an excellent opportunity for getting in contact with the market – said Marco Massaro , CEO of Tecnova – confirming the real needs of the extrusion industry . Today , there is a greater awareness of quality , also because the initial conditions of the plastic material to be processed are often very poor , especially in the case of highly contaminated postconsumer waste . Therefore , equipping one ’ s line with a Liontek densifier – Marco Massaro continued – is necessary in order to guarantee the quality and homogeneity of the end product . We currently have two major orders in place in Mexico and Belgium for which the first tests are already underway ,” the CEO of Tecnova concluded .
