In this interview , Mario Maggiani , director of Amaplast , the association of Italian plastics and rubber processing machinery and moulds manufacturers , and CEO of Promaplast , organizer of the Plast 2023 trade fair in Milan , explains the expectations and objectives for the most highly anticipated event of the year .

Plast 2023 , the top plastics industry event of the year , will take place from 5 to 8 September at the Milano-Rho exhibition centre . The fair comes five years after the previous edition and has already attracted the participation of more than 800 Italian and international exhibitors . With strong expectations in terms of growth in the number of visitors , the event will be an opportunity to take stock of developments in processing technology , the economy , and the sustainability of polymer materials . We spoke about this with Mario Maggiani , director of Amaplast , the Italian plastics and rubber processing machinery and moulds manufacturers association , and CEO of Promaplast , organizer of Plast 2023 .
THIS YEAR , PLAST 2023 RETURNS AFTER A GAP OF FIVE YEARS . WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS FOR THIS EDITION ? The expectations are positive . We are coming back after five years in a world that has restarted . The pandemic has broken up the global trade fair calendar and so the date of 2023 is the result of a number of factors , not least the availability of the Fiera Milano fairgrounds . So far , about 800 companies have registered , an absolutely positive number : two thirds are Italian and a third international , bearing in mind , however , that the branches of foreign countries based in Italy are registered as Italian . The number of companies participating for the first time has risen and some companies that have been absent for several editions are coming back . Lastly , we are still more than six months away from the opening and so there is much room for growth . It is likely that we will meet our goal of exceeding the one thousand exhibitors of 2018 .
WHAT WILL BE THE MOST INTERESTING AND INNOVATIVE ASPECTS THIS YEAR ? The satellite shows have been confirmed for this year : Plast-Mat , devoted to innovative plastics solutions , Rubber , for the whole rubber industry , and 3D Plast , for additive manufacturing .
