whether they are fully electric, as in this case, hybrid with hydraulic injection powered by accumulators, to achieve higher injection speeds, or hydraulic with a servo-pump, for high tonnages. In the caps and closures sector targeted by this application, it is essential to ensure high consistency and, once again, low energy consumption. With the eKW series, the company aims to meet these requirements, thanks in part to the unique design of the BMB toggle clamping system, characterised by a central clamping force and the electrification of all movements, resulting in improved precision, consistent shot weight and energy savings. BMB’ s research into improving electric injection moulding machines has focused primarily on increasing injection speed, which is still some way off the speeds achievable with hydraulic injection, but is steadily rising and approaching 500 mm / s; Much attention has also been paid to reducing mould opening time, with increased opening and closing speeds thanks to direct-drive motors and motion transmitted via roller recirculating screws, which ensure reliability and much higher performance compared to actuators with ball recirculating screws, which are subject to wear and require more frequent and costly maintenance. In the application showcased at the trade fair, the precision of the moulded part is particularly evident in the area affected by unscrewing and mould closure. Key features:
• BMB toggle-type clamping system with force applied at the centre of the platen → precision and consistency.
• High energy efficiency thanks to the full electrification of the movements.
• Injection speed of up to 500 mm / s, increasingly approaching the performance of hydraulic systems.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY WITHOUT COMPROMISING ON PERFORMANCE The third workstation showcased at the trade fair is designed to further highlight the importance of reducing energy consumption without compromising productivity or product quality. The machine stands out for its high performance, with an injection speed of 500 mm / s and particularly rapid opening and closing cycles, perfectly combining productivity with reduced energy consumption, even in an extreme scenario such as that demonstrated at the trade fair, where the complete cycle takes less than 3 seconds, with a robot cycle time of over half a second. With this machine, BMB offers a solution capable of producing at least 120,000 containers per day, requiring 60,000 opening and closing cycles per day, every day, without breaks or machine downtime, for years of production. In other words, extremely high levels of productivity with the low energy consumption typical of an electric press and the reliability of a mechanical system. The eKW28Pi / 1300 full-electric machine utilises a 50 mm plasticising screw that generates a specific injection pressure of 2,000 bar, necessary for filling and compacting a product with a wall thickness of 0.4 mm. All axes are servo-assisted and the overlapping of movements helps to save time, resulting in a shorter cycle time and consistent part weight. Key features:
• Injection speed: 500 mm / s
• Reduced open-mould times thanks to direct-drive motors and recirculating roller screws( more reliable than ball screws).
• Perfect synchronisation of movements → maximum productivity and consistent product weight.
• Ideal for direct comparison with competing electric presses in terms of energy consumption, reliability and the quality of thin-walled moulded parts.
COMPACT, QUIET, PRECISE The fourth island will be on display at the stand of our long-standing partner Star Automation Europe( Hall 24, Stand D82-D92): an eKW20Pi / 700 Full Electric – 2000 kN will produce a 250 ml food container – 8 compartments, IML label, with a cycle time of 2.8 s Key features:
• Direct-drive electric motors: quiet and vibration-free.
• Coaxial extrusion and injection motors, offering the advantage of a more compact design and more precise movements, as there are no belts or gearboxes.
• Excellent base stability and low maintenance requirements.
• Intuitive 24.5“ touchscreen operator interface with physical buttons for critical settings.
• Direct and free connection to BMB after-sales support
A perfect combination for those seeking precision, sustainability and operational continuity.
THE TECHNICAL PARTNER FOR THE FUTURE OF PACKAGING. At Plast 2026, BMB reaffirms its identity: machines designed for long-term operation, with minimal energy consumption and maximum performance, in line with the new demands of an industry where efficiency, consistency and reduced downtime are more crucial than ever. BMB’ s philosophy remains unchanged:
• performance,
• structural reliability,
• ongoing technical support,
• direct and transparent relationship with the customer.
An industrial approach that, even today, is reflected in a simple handshake.
