It was back in 1977 when , from the pioneering vision of three Umbrian entrepreneurs , the idea came up to start regenerating polypropylene deriving from industrial waste , so as to reintroduce it into the supply chain according to the modern principles of circularity . From there , the step towards moulding was almost natural : in a short time Lucy Plast purchased some injection moulding machines to produce crates for fruit and vegetables and poultry . This area remained the company ’ s reference market until the 1990s . Subsequently , after obtaining numerous industrial patents for recycled plastic items to be used for the transport and handling of reels , Lucy Plast established itself as a leading company in Europe in the design and supply of solutions for the handling of these items . Today , in the production plant located in Umbertide ( near Perugia ), recycling , pelletising and injection moulding processes take place along with the management of all ancillary sales services with a strong focus on customer care . On the one hand , there is the production of tailor-made compounds in pellets , and on the other , a complete range of technical items for food and industrial packaging ( pallets , flanges for reels , cylindrical caps , containers , crates and accessories ), strictly certified under the Plastic Second Life mark .
A “ SHORT ” SUPPLY CHAIN „ Lucy Plast places itself on the market according to the principles of the ‘ short supply chain ’, recovering industrial waste throughout Italy ( thanks to its 120 industrial dumpsters ) and bringing it to the production site in Umbria . In 2022 , 23 thousand tons of plastics were regenerated on 5 extrusion lines , mainly destined for the automotive , furniture , building , packaging , agri-food and horticultural industries ” said Giovanni Belia , sales director of Lucy Plast “ and
