PET is a polymer widely used in the production of singleuse packaging such as beverage bottles as well as polyester fibres for textiles . And it is also the most widely collected polymer – together with polypropylene ( PP ) and low and high density polyethylene ( LDPE and HDPE respectively ). Being a very inert polymer , PET is ideal for food packaging as it has no interaction with what it comes into contact with . It is able to create a barrier for oxygen and water and can be easily shaped , it is highly durable and very lightweight , the perfect choice for beverage bottles .
