In December 2020 , VP Italia consolidated its expansion process acquiring in its entirety B . For Pet , a company specializing in the recovery and recycling of PET bottles with two dedicated production facilities , one in Trento and the other in Benevento . VP Italia ’ s headquarters remain at its historic premises of Fara Gera d ’ Adda ( near Bergamo ), where the company was established in 2007 . VP Italia has always focused its operations on the distribution of engineering polymers , commodities and tailor-made compounds , but after its acquisition of B . For Pet and the availability of second life and bio products , the company has found an important role to play among Italian recyclers . Over the coming years , focusing on its experience and on the consolidation of the Italian market , VP Italia aims to increase its operations in some of the main European markets that at present are moving relatively modest volumes of products .
Vito Gatto , the general manager of VP Italia , provides us with a detailed picture of the current market situation , with its positive aspects and some concerns for the near future : „ In terms of sales , the demand for plastics is always very high though the difficulties related to the sourcing of raw materials and industrial and post-consumer waste are undeniable .“
REGENERATED POLYMERS According to Vito Gatto , from next year and even more in future years , there will be a growing shortage of regenerated materials originated from recovery and recycling operations . As the market demand continues to grow , it will be increasingly problematic to source raw materials . „ Tendentially ,” Gatto continues “ this could put Italian waste regenerators in a serious crisis .
