A “ circular ” ski suit
A zero-kilometer ski suit , sustainable and attentive to style and design . The protagonists in the creation of this suit are RadiciGroup and DKB , a company specialized in technical sportswear . The suit , consisting of a jacket and trousers , is characterized by a fabric made of Renycle , a yarn produced by RadiciGroup and derived from the mechanical recycling of polyamide , which allows significant savings in terms of energy use , CO2 emissions and water consumption . In addition , the padding and the numerous accessories of the suit , including the zips , velcros , buttons and seam yarns , are also made of polyamide , a goal achieved as a result of great teamwork between RadiciGroup and DKB for the research and development of materials that are chemically similar to each other and can be used in specific applications requiring high technical performance . This almost mono-material composition makes it possible to significantly facilitate end-of-life recycling of the suit , through its transformation into a new polymeric material to be used for the production , for example , of components of ski boots and bindings , or in the automotive sector , in furniture or in any application that involves the use of high-performance polyamides . www . plastmagazine . it
The range developed includes partially bio-based polyamides ( PA 5.6 , PA 6.9 , PA 6.10 , PA 6.12 ), totally bio-based grades ( PA 5.10 , PA 5.9 , PA 5.6 BIO ) as well as special polyamides ( high performance ).
PA RECYCLING In addition to the production of polyamides , RadiciGroup has dedicated itself to their recycling . The company ’ s recycling process is able to return the waste generated by a specific industrial sector to the same applications , or in a different one , based on the specific characteristics of the materials and the performance level required , choosing the most sustainable solution . The recycling activity is applied both in the pre-consumer phase ( industrial waste ) and in the post-consumer phase ( items coming from the market ).
RADICI INNOVA – THE INNOVATION Radici InNova is RadiciGroup ‘ s consortium company dedicated to research , development and innovation activities for the chemical , polymer and advanced textile solution sectors , which is part of the Group ‘ s sustainability strategy . Founded at the end of 2019 , Radici InNova joins the three business units ( Specialty Chemicals , High Performance Polymers , Advanced Textile Solutions ) in identifying opportunities for „ radical innovation “ aimed at sustainability . Radici InNova ‘ s strategy will also be developed in collaboration with universities , research institutes and scientific centers , for the creation of intangible value through the exchange and growth of knowledge .
