coming a point of reference for the whole sector . We therefore asked the founder ’ s son , Marco Massaro , current CEO and sales manager , to take stock of the situation : “ Operating in the plastic recycling sector for over 40 years , Tecnova has been able to achieve sizeable turnover figures , making up for this period of slight market decline : all in all , after a 2022 and a post-pandemic period in general beyond expectations , we knew that 2023 would not be an easy year for the international market . However , thanks to our solid structure we are able to face all the problems , which are stronger in Italy since our international competitors continue to enjoy a number of facilities in their countries , including financial ones . So that , being able to rely on bonuses and tax benefits would be essential to support the innovation process necessary to reduce our environmental impact by recycling even the most contaminated materials , making it clear that plastic is not the real problem provided that the circular economy and sustainability are properly supported . I am working hard in this direction with the aim , for
INNOVATIVE SYSTEMS To overcome the current global crisis it is even more important , therefore , to be able to innovate and Liontek represents a clear example form this point of view in the face of the increasingly harder competition , in technological terms , compared to the past . Massaro continues : “ K 2022 provided an excellent opportunity for verifying the real needs of the extrusion industry . Today there is a greater awareness of quality , also because the initial conditions of waste materials are often very poor , especially in case of post-consumer waste , despite the excellent work done by the washing systems . It is increasingly difficult to find materials with residual moisture levels inferior to 5-10 %, therefore suitable for direct feeding into extruders . Liontek is then fundamental to reduce the residual moisture content that often compromises the quality of pellets , their processing , the homogeneity of production and consequently the final output .” The Liontek closed-loop densifier , Massaro points out , “ is designed to process post-consumer , postindustrial plastics or materials from washing plants in-line , not by batch . When its development was initiated on the basis of a project of my father dating back to 1997 – then abandoned for other production priorities , and also because the market demand was not yet mature – plastic was considered a clean premium material , and not a source of pollution . Today the situation has reversed and Liontek has now become a very useful tool for the recycling of certain types of plastic that not only have a high moisture content , but are also heavily contaminated and printed . In addition to completing the lineup available on the market under the Tecnova brand , Liontek is aimed at national and foreign customers :
