Football season is here on all levels here in Walker County and each team is looking to avenge something from last year .
For the Hornets , they have a sour taste left after a crushing defeat to Port-Neches Groves in the Class 5A , DII Region Final . Now , the two are district mates . With eight offensive and six defensive starters back , Huntsville has an opportunity to push further .
At the collegiate level , Sam Houston is prepared to make some noise in their second year of Conference USA play .
The Bearkats won three of their final four games last year to get into a groove to wrap up the season . With a lot of returners coming back , the Bearkats have an opportunity to get bowl eligible and contend for a spot in the CUSA Championship . The key will come down to the effectiveness of the Bearkat offense .
Down in Bulldog Country , New Waverly will enter its second year with each of their coordinators guiding the team .
New Waverly went 4-6 last season and made the postseason as a three-seed but the Dogs want more . The Bulldogs have won one playoff game since 2014 and are looking for more . With a load of seniors to guide the way , it is a possibility the Dogs get back to form .
For the Lions there are a lot of factors to be looking forward to . With the jump back

to six-man football last year , Alpha Omega Academy found itself playing a season to play . There was no playoff hope or district matchups . Now , they have a place to call home . With senior Will Winn leading the way under center , the Lions have an opportunity to get back on top of the TAPPS Six-Man ranks .
