Cefalutana
Society:
Onorare Gesù Salvatore &
a Day at the Races
By Rose Brocato
Summer is right around the corner. Summer
is a very special time for the Cefalutana Society
especially in August. In early August, the Festa
di Gesù Salvatore is celebrated every year in New
Orleans. This annual festa also can be traced
back in our own New Orlean’s history and in the
history of Cefalu. There is a festa every year in
Cefalu to celebrate and honor the patron saint
of Cefalu, Gesù Salvatore. In Cefalu every year
there is a lively procession with a band through
the narrow streets which ends in th e square in
front of the Duomo. There are many events
for several days there in Cefalu. Here in New
Orleans, as a society together we attend mass and
have a wonderful meal together. Please put the
date, August 4, 2019, on your calendars and more
information will follow in the coming months.
This is a very important event for our society
because it gives the members a chance to gather
and celebrate our Cefalutana heritage together.

made. Members who attended were Catherine
Barberito, Charles Cherry, Joan Holub, Joe and
Shelly Battaglia, Jennifer and Santine Bordelon,

Again this year in April, Presidente Joe
