Can Meeting Your Next Big Goal Be As Easy As Taking A Daily Vitamin ?

Do you know that feeling when you leave a great conference , a motivational webinar , or an exhilarating team-building retreat ? You ’ ve got all these amazing ideas you want to implement in your personal life or work . A few days go by , and that momentum slowly boils over and turns into this crazy , overwhelming feeling of “ Where do I even start ?” Sometimes it ’ s hard to start at all .

When things are overwhelming , we tend to stick with what we know . It ’ s easier to drive the same route to work every day , order coffee at the same café , or vacation at the same resort . But quickly , these things go from routine to autopilot . That ’ s why I love that this issue of Momentum NJ brings you an article from millionaire entrepreneur Jesse Itzler , who is a believer that if you want good things to happen – if you want to meet those goals you ’ ve set ( and you deserve to !) – you have to kick your brain out of autopilot .
In 2020 , I joined Jesse ’ s Big A ## Calendar Club , part of the Build Your Life Resume program he started during the pandemic . The whole point of the program is that life will pass us by if we don ’ t plan out the important things . We ’ ll regret never taking a family vacation , not going on monthly date nights with our spouse , or not losing those pesky pounds . We can ’ t do what we ’ ve always done , so we have to shake things up . He created this massive calendar to mark down small steps he calls “ daily vitamins ” to help us meet our big goals . But I knew that if I was going to be successful with this calendar thing , it would have to be a no-brainer . I called my daily vitamins “ chewables ” because that sounded even more manageable to me . For example , one of my chewables is doing 2 – 5 minutes of stretching or yoga daily . I told myself that if I couldn ’ t do that , something is wrong with my life ! I ’ ve been doing it since 2020 and have a 570- day streak . That feels really good .
If I want to meet my meaningful goal of being healthier , I ’ ve got to stretch and do yoga , and that ’ s a bit out of the ordinary for me . Creating your own luck and meeting your goals means putting yourself out there . But
I know it works because my business , in many ways , is founded on creating my own luck and making myself a little uncomfortable . Several years ago , I was mountain biking with my husband . I ’ m not a diehard mountain biker by any means , but he is , so for a few years , I rode along . On one ride , I crossed paths with my COO ’ s previous boss . We reconnected later at a networking event , and that ’ s how I met the woman who would become my COO . I couldn ’ t be who I am today if it weren ’ t for her . I don ’ t mountain bike anymore , but because I did something out of my routine , even for a short time , it changed the course of my career .
There ’ s a lot of fantastic content in this fifth issue of Momentum NJ ; you might be tempted to take notes or even create your own Big A ## calendar . I suggest ( and I think Jesse would agree ) picking one takeaway and working toward it . It ’ s like what they say about moving a mountain : You do it one stone at a time . When you find something to work toward , I ’ d love to hear about it .
Sincerely ,
