The Adventure 3 If you feel the need to push free from your comfort zone then this is the perfect place to be. If you choose to stay in a Ger (traditional Mongolian tent) with a local family, the lack of access to running water or any bathroom facilities for a prolonged period of time can really take some adjusting to. These lands really are the adventure seekers dream; you can climb mountains, trek through the sand dunes of the Gobi desert or ride on horseback across the open plains. The options are endless. 4 The Capital City Ulaanbaatar probably isn't at the top of most peoples' must-see list but the impressive Chingis Khan square and variety of high quality, very affordable cuisine from around the world definitely makes the city worth a visit. There are several interesting museums and the views from the Gandantegchinlen Monastery nestled in the middle of the wilderness are just breathtaking. Don't miss watching a traditional Mongolian wrestling match for a truly unique experience. 5 The Variety I've never visited a place so full of vibrancy and colour. From the traditional dress many of the nomadic families wear to the decoration inside the Gers and temples, you will certainly return home artistically inspired. So if that's not enough reasons to visit I guess you can't be persuaded. BUT if you do go I can recommend affordable accommodation in the capital city at the Golden Gobi guesthouse http://www.goldengobi.com/. They can also help you to organise staying with nomadic families depending on your budget and time frame.
