12. Rose champagnes and wines have been
making a significant come back in recent
years. The vintage Belle Epoque Rose is an
exquisite example of a rose d’assemblage.
Explain what makes the Belle Epoque
Rose so special.
Belle Epoque Rosé, always vintage, is also a rosé
d’assemblage. This blend has a very pale salmon
color. The aim of this blend is to keep the
flowery note, but mainly of roses or peonies
instead of white flowers. The fruits found
in this blend are wild strawberry, raspberry,
pink grapefruit, accompanied by notes of
brioche resulting from longer aging on lees.
We include a little less red wine (12% for
the 2010vintage) and more Chardonnay (50%)
compared to Blason Rosé. It is a light rosé that
is velvetier and soupple. The Maison Perrier-
Jouët is distinguished by richer assemblies
of Chardonnay, the grape variety that delivers
aromas of white flowers and citrus. It is the
finest grape variety of Champagne. Our Rosé
Champagne is often appreciated for its softness
and freshness. The addition of red wines
attenuates the acidity of the champagne. The
excellence of the rosés is obtained with bases
where the chardonnay brings elegance and
finesse and reds which will bring initially
the hue and in a second time notes of small
red fruits.Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Rosé
2006 (current vintage) is a delicate, rich and
voluptuous wine that is part of the prestigious
Perrier-Jouët collection. This wine is the fruit of
a generous year.
13. The signature trademark spray of
Japanese anemones makes Perrier Jouet’s
bottles easily distinguished and creates
each bottle into a masterful artform. Tell
us the background story of how a special
motif for the Perrier Jouet magnums was
requested in 1902 at the behest of Octave
Gallice in order to reflect Perriet Jouet’s
intricate and unique floral style.
Whilst the Art Nouveau movement is in full swing
at the start of the 20th century, Henri Gallice, the
grandnephew of Pierre Nicolas Perrier, founder
of the Maison Perrier-Jouët meets Emile Gallé,
one of the pioneers of the artistic movement.
At the request of Octave Gallice, after tasting
Perrier-Jouët champagne the latter created in
1902 a pattern for the Perrier-Jouët magnums: a
gathering of
Japanese anemones. Emile Gallé chose the white
Japanese anemone for the floral arabesque that
became the house emblem.
