Rod Sanderson is a committee member at Stewartry Rugby Club , a long term supporter and sponsor with local company Tarff Valley Ltd , he was approached by current President , Robin Austin a few years ago and decided he would like to give something back to a club he greatly admired . He recently took time out recently to speak to Rugby Club Magazine in between travelling ,
“ Yes Tarff Valley have been around since 1903 and have supported Stewartry rugby club over the time frame of its existence around 50 years . Being an agricultural business many of our friends and customers are involved in this fabulous club and so
it has always been a happy meeting place and a hub within our community .
My own personal experience of the club is a club where there is a lot of kindness , friendships and one of the most welcoming of places . From the mini section to our girls and 1st XV sections , who are competing very strongly in their own right , there is a place for everyone , young and old alike , who choose to join us .
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all those who have worked so hard to make Stewartry Rugby Club into what it is today and on being recognised for their great contribution to rugby throughout Dumfries and Galloway ; Well done and all the very best for 2022 !”

“ My son Martin , now an explayer , and a great back row player in his day , came right the way through the club system from minis to colts and then senior rugby ; he was also a vice-captain of the 1st 1V . Even although I cant claim to be a big rugby fan myself I have always found the club to be a very friendly place . Two of my nephews Alan and Grant have played there too .
The hospitality the club put on has always been very impressive and living in an agricultural community we have enjoyed staff nights out and events at the club . I would like to congratulate everybody at Stewartry Rugby Club on another strong season and wish them all the best of continued success for the future !”
