He recently spoke to Rugby Club Magazine about his long and positive association with Ross High Rugby Club , to offer this opportunity to our young people from primary school age . ” I am Tranent born and bred and actually started as a footballer before I had a game with the FP`s as a reserve for their 5th`s then moved through the ranks as the years rolled on . My main playing position was outside centre and I played competitively up until I was 28 when injuries were becoming a hinderance and I had to make decisions about my working career or rugby .
I feel I made the right decision and encouraged by my boss at the time I hung my boots up . My grandson Ethan plays rugby now , his younger brother Fynlay , although too young at the moment , can ’ t wait to get his hands on a rugby ball . The school Fynlay attends don ’ t play rugby and about a month or so ago , while at school , he managed to get his hands on a rugby ball which had come over the school fence and proceeded to get his pals involved in a game of rugby- well done I thought ! I am also blessed with another 3 grandchildren Ronnie , Emily and little Louie being the youngest . Rugby is a great option for all children these days and offers fun , friendships and much more !
