Teacher Profiles

Learning and teaching coordinators serve an important role of supporting continued improvement of teaching and learning within the college. We collaborate closely with the Academic Success Team (the FIC admin team supporting instructors) to identify and address the challenges that instructors face. During the past year, we have been focused on supporting the transition back to campus and in-person instruction. We offer direct one-on-one support for instructors, assist in onboarding new instructors and provide avenues for community building, collaboration and exchange among instructors.

We provide a channel of communication between instructors and college administrators on matters related to teaching and learning. We also maintain the FIC Instructor Resource Centre on Moodle, curate teaching resources and organize and promote professional development offerings such as lunchtime technology sessions and end-of-term PD days.

In addition, we support the Navitas Canada Manager, Teaching and Learning, with initiatives across Canada and collaborate with Simon Fraser University, our partner university, on teaching and learning initiatives on our joint campus.

It can be very valuable for instructors to have the support of a learning and teaching coordinator with teaching experience in a related discipline. Our instructors, too, have been a great resource for us, and we are fortunate to work with a great team of energetic people, both instructors and admin, who are passionate about teaching and enhancing student outcomes at FIC.
