A s Teesside University builds upon its role as an economic anchor for the region , two key leaders have been appointed to work with business and industry to drive these ambitions forward .

The university ’ s five-year strategy – Teesside
2027 : Ambition Delivered Today – sets forth a bold vision for Teesside as a civic university which is a catalyst for business productivity and growth .
Teesside University ’ s recently appointed pro vicechancellor ( enterprise and knowledge exchange ) and director of apprenticeships will play a pivotal role in driving these ambitions forwards .
Vital to the success of the aims and ambitions of the Teesside 2027 strategy is close collaboration with the public and private sector organisations to boost inward investment and deliver the Local Industrial Strategy in line with regional strengths and challenges .
The development of a strong pipeline of Higher and Degree Apprenticeships will also be incredibly important in helping build the region ’ s base , in line with the needs of regional employers while providing further options for graduate employability .
Professor Craig Gaskell and Jo Burgess are both highly-respected leaders in their fields and already making great strides in meeting these challenges .
Enterprising leader will drive forward partnerships As Teesside ’ s new pro-vice chancellor ( enterprise and knowledge exchange ), Professor Craig Gaskell drives the university ’ s enterprise , employer partnerships and commercialisation agenda .
He brings a wealth of experience in developing and delivering strategic and innovation projects in higher education and in building highly productive partnerships with business and the public sector .
Passionate about social mobility and the transformational impact of higher education , Professor Gaskell has been a senior leader in the sector for many years .
He was a Dean at Hull University and has led several significant change and start-up projects in the sector , notably as Provost of Coventry University ’ s “ CU Scarborough ” and as founding principal and chief executive of University Academy 92 ( UA92 )
