Mark Palmer , Encora Energy A fast-expanding Teesside engineering consultancy is honing the next generation of local talent with the appointment of a mechanical engineering graduate from Teesside University .
Mark Palmer joins Stockon-based Encora Energy as a project engineer after graduating with a first-class degree .
Mark has also gained valuable industry experience , working as a computer-aided design engineer at Lionweld Kennedy Group , a global supplier of gratings , handrail systems , platforms , stair treads and ladders .
His appointment strengthens Encora ’ s expertise as the company expands its presence in regional and national markets . Encora was created in 2015 by energy professionals looking to help clients exploit opportunities related to the changing needs of the energy market .
Sam Kirtley and Helen Robinson , TMD Friction A Hartlepool engineering firm has announced the appointment of two senior managers , boosting its leadership team as it continues to implement ambitious plans for growth .

Friction has appointed Sam Kirtley as UK finance director , having previously worked for Gestamp in Newton Aycliffe .
Joining her is Helen Robinson , who is the company ’ s new HR manager for the UK , replacing Jenny Wright , who has been promoted into a global role
Helen brings a wealth of HR experience with her , having worked at a senior level for companies within the region .
TMD Friction has been making parts for the passenger car aftermarket since 1974 and now employs 508 people at its Hartlepool factory , its only UK production facility .
The firm created a new flagship engineering team last year , bringing together four existing teams under one management structure .
Since then , because of Covid-19 and other labour market challenges , the team has never been at its full 49 capacity .
However , several positions have recently been filled , with two new production engineers , two maintenance technicians , a tooling engineer and an electrician joining the team , along with existing technicians taking on lead technician roles , with a further two to follow .

Miller Homes has promoted Mark Bayliss to the new role of regional managing director for its Teesside operation .
Mark started his career with the company nearly 20 years ago as part of the Miller Homes
North-East region .
Five senior promotions have also been announced . Donna Brown has been promoted to associate sales director , James Reid has been promoted to strategic land director , Tony Deakin becomes commercial director , Colin Thompson is the new technical director and Nick McCluskey is promoted to production director .
Lousie Robinson , Caroline Pigg and Caroline Bowerbank , Clive Owen A chartered accountancy has tripled the size of its HR department to reflect the increase in staff at the rapidly growing firm .
Darlington-based Clive Owen has experienced a ten per cent expansion in its workforce over the last year .
During that time its HR department has recruited two staff to join HR and training manager Caroline Bowerbank , who will become HR director .
Caroline joined the firm in April 2017 and has strengthened the firm ’ s focus on wellbeing with the introduction of several initiatives .
The additions to the team are recruitment and training adviser Caroline Pigg and Louise Robinson , who has joined as HR assistant .
Clive Owen – which has offices in Darlington , Durham , Middlesbrough and York – has implemented a hybrid format of working since the lockdowns .
