COMMENT
Stockton North MP Alex Cunningham visited NSMP ’ s Teesside Gas Processing Plant , operated by px Group .
Alex Cunningham , MP for Stockton North , came to TGPP where we talked at length about the key role the plant plays in the local and national energy supply , and to the local economy .
Stockton South MP Matt Vickers visited our head office , where he met members of our business development team .
And in May , Energy Minister Greg Hands visited Saltend Chemicals Park , a site which we own and operate , near Hull .
Saltend has been the subject of much attention in the last 18 months or so as plans ramp up for a world-leading Hydrogen supply network in the Humber that is developing fast .
On hand – Energy Minister Greg Hands visited Saltend Chemicals Park , a site owned and operated by px Group near Hull .
Here , our team talked through all the investment and opportunities that the UK ’ s decarbonisation pledges and goals are bringing to the site .
Growth Options Of course , we ’ ve been looking at ways to continue driving growth beyond doing what we have traditionally done best .
We ’ ve been exploring all the possibilities and executing on some of them – namely organic growth and growth by acquisition .
Last year , px Group was acquired by Houston-based Ara Partners , a company that backs businesses playing a key role in decarbonising the energy supply chain and making it more efficient . Since then , we ’ ve been able to further our ambitions .
December marked the beginning of our international expansion , as we took on responsibility for our first major operational project outside of the UK .
Norway ’ s Risavika liquefaction plant converts natural gas into lower carbon liquefied natural gas for use in the logistics industry , mainly in shipping and road transport .
It represented a huge milestone for us and was possible largely thanks to the strategic partnership we have with the owners of the plant , NSMP , with whom we ’ ve been working in Teesside since 2012 and in Scotland since 2016 . As in any business , finding great people and great clients to work with who trust you to carry out operations but also come to you for advice , is a recipe for success .
I ’ m pleased to say that this relationship-focused approach we have with all our partners is paying off , not just in Norway , but also elsewhere in Europe ( more on that soon !).
In March , we completed our acquisition of Fairport Engineering – a well-run , relationship-focused business with bases in the North-West and in Sunderland , that offers materials handling design , construction , and management both nationally and internationally .
Adding Fairport ’ s expertise to our business , allows us to offer turnkey industrial site solutions to our clients .
Looking ahead , we ’ re also set to launch a new business this summer . While I can ’ t say too much at this stage , the motivation behind this is that it is not just large industrial assets and sites that need to decarbonise – it ’ s also every business that consumes or produces energy , no matter how big or small they are .
Decarbonisation often leads to efficiencies and reduced costs – so it ’ s in all our best interests to reduce emissions and help the planet prosper .
I strongly believe that growth – whether that ’ s national or local , public , or private , financial , or societal – is only achievable by working together , by sharing ideas , advice , and expertise .
I hope the areas I have touched on in this piece are testament to that .
It has been a challenging yet truly positive start to 2022 for px Group , and I hope it has been for your business , too . All the best for the rest of the year .
