A career you can count on
Azets , the UK ’ s largest regional accountancy and business advisor to SMEs , has recruited six new graduates together with three school leaver apprentices to join its seven offices across the North-East .
Investing in the next generation of talent is a key strategy for Azets , as it looks to further expand its offer and continue to deliver a high-quality service locally to businesses across the UK .
Azets is able to offer a varied career path for joiners , with the option to work across different parts of the country and to specialise in different aspects of accounting and business advisory services , from general practice and tax to corporate finance , trade and restructuring .
The continuation of Azets ’ graduate and school leaver national recruitment drive , against the backdrop of the current pandemic , wider economic challenges and the UK adjusting to post-Brexit life , is also a reflection of growing demand for tailored business advice and services , as companies and individuals look to navigate through the increased levels of uncertainty and change .
The school leaver route at Azets is a six-year programme , which includes two apprenticeship programmes leading to the student becoming AAT-qualified and then moving on to their chartered accountancy qualification .
The graduate route is a three or four-year programme through which students study towards their chartered accountancy qualification .
Andrew Rowe , office managing partner at Azets in Wynyard , started his career via an apprenticeship scheme with the North East Chamber .
He said : “ Azets has a long tradition of recruiting and developing school leavers and graduates and we ’ re proud to attract local talent from the region ’ s schools and universities .
“ The region is booming thanks in part to highprofile investments such as the Teesside Freeport and Treasury North
“ We want to ensure our staff can pursue their careers within the business and are supported in their ambitions while developing the talent of the younger generation , who will be the business leaders and advisors of tomorrow .
“ Since the pandemic , more and more young people have found themselves struggling to find good jobs , so I am excited we are able to kickstart the careers of so many and offer them a bright and interesting future .
“ There has never been a better time to think about joining Azets as we look to capitalise on growth and accelerate the next phase of development . We are actively looking to add good people to our North-East team at all levels , from school leavers to partners and everything in between .
“ The region is booming thanks in part to high-profile investments such as the Teesside Freeport and Treasury North , and it ’ s a great time to join a growing firm with ambitious plans .”
Adam Jones undertook a secondment at Azets while at Teesside University and has now joined as part of the graduate intake .
He said : “ It ’ s great to be back at Azets . I was attracted to the firm as they have a strong focus on training , providing opportunities for professional development and a strong presence in the North-East , so it was a perfect fit for me .
“ I get to work with some fantastic businesses in a variety of industries across the region and no two days are ever the same . I ’ m pleased to be able to start my career in the region rather than having to move away . The majority of my peers also hail from the North-East , so it ’ s great to see local talent being retained in the region .”
