APPOINTMENTS TEES Business appointments Chris Garbutt, Resolution Media and Publishing The publishers of Tees Business have appointed a new sales manager to drive forward growth plans. Chris Garbutt joined Middlesbroughbased Resolution Media and Publishing just before the Covid-19 outbreak. The 32-year-old has previously worked as sales director for JMAC Safety Systems and sales specialist for sales outsourcing agency Just Williams. Prior to that he was an account manager for Trinity Mirror (now Reach) and for Audi Teesside after starting his career as a civil service executive for the Department for Work and Pensions. “Joining the Resolution Publishing team is a fantastic opportunity and the timing could not have been better,” says Chris, who’s originally from Middlesbrough and now lives in Billingham with his wife, Lyndsey. “Anybody who knows me knows I’m fiercely proud of Teesside, to have been raised here and to live and work here. “To join a business that’s sole focus and aim is to talk up the area and to shine a light on the brilliant things this area stands for and has to offer, hardworking, honest people and the businesses they work for, seems a natural fit. “The timing of this opportunity could not be better, with it being such an exciting time at Resolution. Jennifer Williamson, Punch Robson Solicitors Jennifer Williamson joined the Punch Robson team in April as an associate solicitor in the firm’s busy family department. Her appointment was made right in the middle of the Covid-19 crisis at time when the department was handling an increasing workload and she has been a welcome addition to the Punch Robson team. She qualified as a solicitor in 2013 and specialises in family law, advising clients on a number of legal issues, particularly domestic abuse, private and public law children matters. Jennifer is accredited by several organisations including Resolution as a specialist in private children law and domestic abuse and by The Law Society’s Children’s Panel. Her appointment to a senior position further strengthens Punch Robson’s vibrant Family Department, said managing partner Elaine McLaine-Wood. “The Family Department is headed by a young, vibrant team with lots of energy, a team the partners at Punch Robson see very much as an asset,” she said. “Jennifer’s appointment was made in the middle of the Covid-19 lockdown, which had challenges in itself in the way everyone is working and conducting business, but we see it as a forward-thinking opportunity to progress and we welcome her to the team.” Dr Jen Vanderhoven, National Horizons Centre A global leader in the bioscience industry who co-authored the UK government’s industrial biotechnology strategy is to take the helm as the director of Teesside University’s National Horizons Centre. For more than 15 years, Dr Jen Vanderhoven has undertaken leadership roles in higher education and the commercial sector, gaining a vast amount of experience in realising and leading challenging strategic visions and operational goals within complex environments, with multiple and diverse stakeholder groups and priorities.
