In the second half of the 20th century, following the Second World War, the popularity of MUN had significantly increased, as conferences across the globe began to take shape. This dramatic increase in popularity is also believed to be attributed to the 1968 founding of the Hague International Model United Nations (THIMUN), which, to this date, remains known as one of the largest MUN conferences in the world.

While it has been nearly a century since the original 1922 MUN conference, unlike the title, the conference and committee procedures have remained strikingly similar. And yet, the impact of MUN has been immense. In the past three decades alone, thousands have been encouraged into understanding the UN, what it does, and what it stands for. Nurturing curiosity, valuing participation, and inciting inspiration are a few of the many things this club has done for students through the years.

While MUN may be a mere simulation, its ability to engage young generations in conversations that matter, is real.
