a situation where you had to lose everything for the sake of Christ , it ' s not abnormal . God deals with all of us differently depending on the plans and purposes He has for us . Moreover , Jesus said ;
" Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me . For whoever wants to save their life will lose it , but whoever loses their life for me will find it ~ Matthew 16:24 - 25 .
Total surrender to God is the only way out . Running away from Him and His plans for us because we can ' t let go is not the solution especially where God is involved . Some of us hold our lives so tight and act in a way to let God know that He can ' t just come in and spoil everything for us . We love to protect our own image more than the image of God . We claim to love God , but deep within us , we know there are boundaries . What we don ' t know is that when God comes calling , He always has a great plan . He knows that He will save others and show other people light through us . But when we fail to oblige and allow Him to use us for His own glory , we do it at the expense of other people ' s lives and destinies .
God does not give man something to benefit himself , but to serve Him and humanity . In most cases , He requires you to let go and let Him take ownership of your life .
Living for God and serving Him requires sacri- fice , effort and complete devotion . We must be
willing to commit every- thing , otherwise we will lose everything .
The potential you possess
Potential is dormant ability ; reserved power ; untapped strength ; unused success ; hidden talents ; capped capability . Potential is all you can be , but have not yet become ; all you can do , but have not yet done ; how far you can reach , but have not yet reached ; what you can accomplish , but have not yet accomplished . Potential is unexposed ability and latent power . Potential is not what you ’ ve done , or have been able to do ; it ’ s what you haven ’ t done and are able to do . This means that unless you do something beyond what you have done , you will never grow or experience your full potential [ def . by Dr . Myles Monroe }
The land produced vegetation : plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds . And God saw that it was good ~ Genesis 1:12
God did not create anything or anyone empty . Everything that exists , including you , has a seed of greatness that God deposited during the time of creation . If it were not so , it would have been useless for Him to command man to be fruitful . How can he be fruitful when he is empty ? But this is not so , God created you with a potential to grow , expand and accomplish great things . You are not junk . Many of us know what it means to be looked down upon , ridiculed and even trashed by others . People will always undervalue you , but not God . What they see is the physical you , but not what ’ s within you . This is why you should never look upto people to understand who you are , but to God , because He knows you more than you know yourself . When He looks at you , He sees what you or any other person cannot be able to see . He is your source and only He can define you . He looked at Moses and saw a deliverer ; He looked at Gideon and saw a mighty warrior ; He looked at Jeremiah and saw a prophet to the nations ; He looked at Abraham and saw nations . No matter how bad you are ; where you are in life , your status , age , colour , background or even how complicated your situation is , you possess more and are capable of much more than you can imagine .
God does not see a worthless person when He looks at you ; He sees a worthwhile person ; someone with the ability to change and shake the nations . That ’ s why you will never discover who you are meant to be if you use other people to find or define yourself . You must look up to God alone . Only He can define you as He sees you . He is the source of all potential and only He can determine yours .
Your background , level of education , status , colour , tribe or nationality must not be used to measure your abilities . Monroe puts it this way ; “ Your true ability and potential should not be measured by the limitations of an academic test or an Intelligence Quotient score . Nor should it be determined by the social , cultural , economic and educational “ norms ” of your society . Society did not create you . You are not a product of your culture . You are not the offspring of your economy . You were not created by the Department of Education . Therefore , none of these has the right to determine how much potential you have ; first discover who created or manufactured you . Then check the demands He is making upon your life . Whatever He is demanding of you , you can do ”.
