FACE TO FACE precision, and the dual-servo YSM-36TC2, designed to provide greater feeding flexibility while maintaining high accuracy. These developments demonstrate our continued commitment to modular equipment, production-line integration, process simplification, sustainability and cost-effective automation.
ISMR: What are your views on the current global business climate for sheet metal professionals?
GW: The current global business climate for sheet metal professionals is challenging but also presents significant opportunities for companies prepared to invest in automation and flexible manufacturing. Manufacturers are under increasing pressure to reduce production costs, improve productivity, shorten delivery times, decrease their dependence on manual labour and achieve a faster return on capital investment.
At the same time, customers require greater production flexibility, particularly as product lifecycles shorten and demand becomes more varied. As a result, automation, robotics and integrated production systems are becoming increasingly important as the sheet metal industry moves away from traditional labourintensive manufacturing.
However, economic uncertainty, fluctuating demand, rising operating costs and the impact of U. S. tariffs continue to influence customers’ investment decisions. These conditions are encouraging manufacturers to evaluate capital expenditure more carefully and prioritise solutions that offer measurable improvements in efficiency, flexibility and long-term operating costs.
YSM has also adapted its own market approach accordingly. For Blechexpo / Schweisstec 2025, we chose not to display full machines on-site and instead presented our technologies through videos, finishedcomponent samples and direct discussions with customers. This reflects a broader industry shift towards more targeted, costconscious investment and sales strategies.
ISMR: What is your strategic and technical focus for the company? Please elaborate.
Overall, the industry is moving from labour-intensive processes towards automated production, from complex and fixed production lines towards modular systems and from long lead times towards predictive planning and faster delivery
YSM CNC-39T strip and wire forming machine.
GW: YSM’ s strategic and technical focus is to provide high-tech, low-investment manufacturing solutions that help customers to improve productivity, flexibility and return on investment. Its strategy combines modular machine architecture; inline manufacturing; process automation; advanced servo technology; tool standardisation; and Industry- 4.0 and IoT connectivity. By simplifying manufacturing processes and integrating multiple operations into a single production line, YSM aims to reduce equipment requirements, labour dependency, production time and overall capital investment.
Modularity is central to this approach. YSM designs its machines so that individual operations can be configured and operated independently according to the complexity of each component or application. One example is the integration of radial and linear forming within a single set-up, allowing manufacturers to produce a wider range of parts without investing in separate machines. This flexibility also helps customers to respond more quickly to changing production volumes, product designs and market requirements.
Tool standardisation is another important strategic priority. By standardising tooling designs and machine platforms, YSM can shorten tool development time, reduce tooling costs, accelerate equipment delivery and simplify production set-up and maintenance.
Technically, the company continues to advance its CAMLESS servo-driven stamping and bending systems through easily configurable forming slides, SLS safety systems, Industry- 4.0-compatible and IoTenabled software, two-point stamping presses and longer machine beds. Collectively, these developments support our goal of delivering flexible, connected and cost-effective automated manufacturing solutions.
