FACE TO FACE
The TRUMPF TruMatic 5000 provides a fully automated system for laser cutting , punching and forming . TRUMPF is launching its TruMatic 5000 manufacturing cell , with the new SheetMaster , to the North American market at FABTECH .
Enhancing the design process with AI
TRUMPF has unveiled an initial version of a solution that provides designers with support based on artificial intelligence ( AI ). The iAssist software analyses improvements to assemblies and suggests ways of realizing this design potential . Designers just need to upload the STEP file for the assembly . The AI-based software analyses the data and generates a result . TRUMPF is working on this project with Optimate , a start-up company spun off from TRUMPF , and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology ( KIT ).
“ Instead of improving the parts by means of trial and error , the software automatically shows where the greatest potential for optimisation lies . This generates better results and helps companies become more efficient ,” explained TRUMPF . During analysis , iAssist also takes economic factors into account and shows , for example , how material can be saved or production steps eliminated .
But the effort required to build a safe machine costs a lot . Machines offered at cheap prices do not always meet the requirements for laser safety . Since authorities cannot verify all CE marking , there are unfortunately some machines which , for example , do not feature real laser safety glass or do not have proper light barriers . These machines are highly dangerous for the operator as well as everyone else in the shop .
With TRUMPF , customers can be sure that they are buying a safe , but also efficient , laser machine . We invest a lot in laser technology , carry out extensive tests in the laboratory and even retrofit existing machines if we find an issue after delivery .
ISMR : Are there any products / technologies / services that you have released or are releasing this year ( including for EuroBLECH or FABTECH ) that you would like to discuss ?
SM : At this year ’ s EuroBLECH exhibition in Hanover ( 22-25 October 2024 ), TRUMPF will be showcasing technologies for every manufacturing need . Our highlight is the new sorting solution that I mentioned earlier . But that ’ s not all . We are also launching a new 2D laser machine that is particularly suitable for customers who have smaller production volumes and are looking for a reliable machine with low investment and operating costs . Another new machine automatically creates chamfers on the upper and lower edges of the component during cutting to reduce downstream processes . Visitors to the TRUMPF booth ( S18003 ) at the FABTECH Show in Orlando , Florida , will be able to see this new laser cutting innovation in action .
We also focus on productivity in service . With the new machine diagnostics , our service experts detect abnormalities on the machine before they have a negative impact on production . For the customer , this means reduced downtime and lower service costs . At FABTECH , we will also launch a complete new ‘ night shift ’ service , where we take over control of the machine remotely during night shifts to extend the output by more hours and ,
TRUMPF ’ s new , rapid mobile bending cell , Flex Cell , will make its U . S . debut at FABTECH 2024 in Orlando , Florida . The new automation solution offers efficient bending in combination with the TruBend 7050 press brake .
