FOCUS ON FOLDERS letting users manufacture bending profiles extremely efficiently . The use of servotechnology and the stop fingers that can be moved freely on the sides guarantee maximum precision and flexibility to bend parallel , tapered or overlapped profiles ,” it told ISMR .
The semi-automatic Jorns JB folder and fully automatic Jorns JDB double bending folder can be configured in lengths of 3.2 to 12.2 metres and boast bending capacities for sheet metal of up to 3mm .
“ The simultaneous bending of complex profiles poses no problem for the Jorns JDB double bending machine because multitasking is ‘ a given ’. The area behind the clamping tool , with a retraction of over 290mm for the bending tools , offers above-average open space . Users can then produce bending profiles without turning them around or over , with an array of possible profile variations . Several parallel , tapered or overlapped profiles can be bent simultaneously , an innovation that increases the speed of work ,” commented Jorns .
The use of servo technology , the automatic loading and unloading table as well as the individually driven clamping fingers are designed for precision and flexibility . Thanks to two bending tools , material handling has also been drastically reduced .
Jorns also offers dynamic positioning which allows the uniform closure of a hem over the entire length of the profile ; the pre-tension is programmed into the control system and lets the clamping arms exert more pressure in the middle of the profile , up to the maximum clamping pressure if needed . Due to the modular design of the machines , Jorns bending machines can also be retrofitted with this function ; dynamic positioning can be integrated as an option .
At Dach & Holz in March this year , Jorns presented the Jorns JDB-150GHM-DP-SE- 1250-JC100-6.4-dsp double bending folder , equipped with automated side-infeed system as well as the new JC100 control which offers a direct interface to the “ Bendex Enterprise Suite ” from MicroSea . In addition , Jorns and Krasser offer a direct interface whereby the required pre-cut blanks can be exported to the cutting and slitting line from Krasser .
After celebrating 150 years of trading in 2022 , UK-based Morgan Rushworth offers a range of manual , hydraulic and CNC folders . Its HBP hydraulic box and pan folder uses an adjustable manual angle-setting device . Clamping and bending is controlled by a joystick or foot pedal or combination of the two , allowing easy positioning of the material for folding . It also offers a manual BPC Box and Pan . It also offers powered and hydraulic section benders .
Its EXR range of CNC folders are

manufactured with a rotating upper beam with one straight rail and one set of high divided tools that can both be utilised in the same folding program without any manual tool change . The back gauge is integral to the rear support table , which is suitable for the folding of large sheets as the weight of the material is supported , resulting in a traditionally two-operator job being able to be performed with just one . Three models are available .
The ESR range of CNC folders are designed to produce fast , accurate and consistent folded parts . Available from 1.5m to 4.2m bending lengths , all models are supplied with a 1m powered back gauge , with optional longer back gauges ( including U- and L-shaped configurations ). All ESR models are supplied with a straight rail with optional high divided tools for box and panel-type operations .

manual tool change . This versatile design enables accuracy , high consistency and high productivity as there is only one initial tool setup to carry out . This is ideal for many folding operations including rectangular panel work with return edges to the four sides ,” explained the company .
PROfirst has been creating software for sheet metal processing since 1987 . Its 3D STEP-UNFOLD ( STEP and IGES unfolder ) software imports 3D files and unfolds to DXF . It enables manufacturers to design sheet metal parts . Its PROfirst CAD software can free up cutting contours in customer drawings , find open contours and close them automatically or smooth contours with its “ KEEP ” function .
RAS Reinhardt Maschinenbau GmbH manufactures semi-automated and fully automated folding machines for companies looking to maximise automation . Founded in 1930 , it builds metal bending , cutting and forming equipment , as well as a range of software ( such as Bendex fabrication software ). RAS Systems LLC was founded in 1992 near Atlanta , Georgia ( USA ). RAS announced the opening of its new sales and service company , RAS France SAS , in June this year .
At this October ’ s EuroBLECH sheet metal exhibition in Germany , the company will be showcasing its XLTbend with tool support , MEGAbend with MetalLift for heavy parts and MinibendCenter 2 .
The second-generation RAS MiniBendCenter has been designed to process small bent parts . As a fully automatic folding centre , it enables the seamless , automated processing of sheet metal from automatic tool set-up and feeding of the blanks to alignment and measurement . A sophisticated manipulator positions the sheet for the bending process , which can be done upwards and downwards . The integration of an intelligent robot processes the loading of punched or laser-cut blanks as well as the
