If an operator is not going to use the machine for a short period , he can push a button so the machine will automatically go into Standby Mode after it has processed the last parts . This saves a lot of energy . If high performance is not required , the machine can move into Eco- Mode which provides energy savings of 30 %,” outlined Frans Huvers .
An IoT / connectivity feature on the new version of the 42 series machine enables users to add scanners or barcode systems to the machine and connect it to other systems such as PCs and IXON . IXON offers remote control , Enterprise Resource Planning links and data management . It is based on the latest Siemens controls platform and supports communication through the OPC-UA protocol . Tools can also be connected to the machine . Via the USB port , users can integrate a barcode / QR code scanner for easy set-ups , a thickness metre for accurate measurements and more gadgets / tools .
A new , re-designed HMI environment is also more user friendly . It is now possible to store up to 500 different deburring programmes , which saves time in case of repetitive production . Ease of use and adaptable programmes minimise the risk of mistakes for consistency in results .
Finally , a new brush measuring system in the machine enables users to automate the calibration process . The system changes brush parameters to their optimal settings for consistent results and longer tool life .
Significant investments
Timesavers has made several significant investments over the past few years , including a new production facility ( a third production hall in Zeeland for building surface-finishing systems such as deburring , grinding and edgerounding machines ). It also invests in partners who help it to grow and diverts around 5 % of its annual turnover into R & D activities .
“ Our U . S . holding group ( InCompass , Manufactured Growth Solutions ) is also investing a lot of money into new company acquisitions to grow the Group ’ s footprint globally in the metalforming industry . Last year , it bought companies such as Colchester in the UK ( metalworking solutions ) and , more recently , Bourn & Koch Inc . ( precision automated machine tool solutions ) and Mollart Machinery ( deep hole drilling machines ). It also recently announced the purchase of Bridgeport . This group synergy supports our 81 series precision grinding calibration machine range ,” explained Paul Hartendorp .
Continuous innovation has been a strong hallmark of Timesavers over the years .
“ We sold our first precision grinding machine in 2004 ( the start of a new product range for us ). As the first to launch a new generation of machines in 2010 , the rotary brush machines , we brought deburring , finishing and edge rounding to our customers . Nobody in the industry was working with rotary brushes at the time for these applications so this was a significant moment for us . In 2014 , the machines underwent a radical makeover of their ergonomics and aesthetic design . We were consequently awarded the prestigious ‘ Red Dot ’ award in 2015 , for industrial machinery ,” explained Paul Hartendorp .
